Re: Referee confirmed for Fulham game
Excellent Ref, the best IMO.
Let's hope 3 points are in the bag come 17:00, and he's had another excellent game.
Would be a big stride towards survival if we win on Saturday.

Long time since Fulham won at the fortress.
Re: Referee confirmed for Fulham game
Spineless ref. Never has control of players. Make use of this to our advantage.

Re: Referee confirmed for Fulham game
Probably the biggest homer ref in football. We're in like Flint. (And that's not Flint, Michigan.)

Urban Dictionary: In like Flint

Used by morons who are either too stupid, young, or lazy to make themselves aware of the original meaning of the phrase "In like FLYNN."

Fans have a massive role to play on Saturday, make it as intense as possible. Make as much noise as we can and appeal for whatever is a 50/50.
Barnes will feed off this.

Re: Referee confirmed for Fulham game
The best referee along with Oliver in the Premier League by a mile imo.
He was the Referee at Chelsea who got all decisions correct but somehow enabled Mourinho to go on “Goals on Sunday “ and try to convince the clown Chris Kamara that Chelsea were robbed
Top Referee and certainly not a “homer”

That's one thing he very definitely isn't - and I think he is the best ref in the leagueontario claret wrote:Probably the biggest homer ref in football.

Re: Referee confirmed for Fulham game
Agree with that. I know only seeing matches on TV doesn't always give a full picture of a ref's performance but I think Atkinson is the best and most consistent ref around at the moment. Of course he will make wrong decisions - all refs do but I think others make far more.ClaretTony wrote:That's one thing he very definitely isn't - and I think he is the best ref in the league

Re: Referee confirmed for Fulham game
As mentioned previously, him and Oliver are the current best 2 refs in the PL. I laughed at the homer comment when I recall Chelsea and the Matic sending off a couple of seasons back. I though Oliver had another good game last night in quite a feisty affair with Spurs and Chelsea. He let the game flow and allowed a degree of physicality, which improved it as a spectacle and also made the right decision for the penalty, with the help of VAR. Obviously had a better VAR reviewer than we did v Barnsley......

Re: Referee confirmed for Fulham game
Best ref in the league for me. I think I heard he would represent the English referees at international tournaments if it wasn't for his age, hence why we didn't have a referee at the World Cup.

I’ve always had the opinion that Atkinson hates Barnes for some reason. Him and Barnes seem to have a spat with one another when he refs us.nil_desperandum wrote:Yes, after Barnes had finally exhausted his patience.

"In Like Flint". A movie starring James Coburn that parodied those awful James Bond movies.
