Brentford's scouts saw his potential.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 4:57 pmYou have a problem with our recruitment so you have a go by suggesting we missed out by signing a lad from a League Two club who hadn’t stood out.

This.

Brentford definitely pick up some bargains and not all of them from overseas leagues.

And Brentford were a lowly Championship club when they signed him and Brentford don’t work like most clubs.

I think its a valid comment regarding recruitment. Lots of fans want us to be picking out these gems..and its especially more relevant now the market has changed and we're priced out of most deals for championship talent.
I want to see us signing some young players with potential. Not boring old pros. Yeah the pros like Bardsley have been brilliant, but its not looking to the future is it.

Would be good. Had we done that we might have got players like Pope, Taylor, JBG, Westwood etc.superdimitri wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 7:50 pmI want to see us signing some young players with potential. Do Brentford still scout/buy players based on the MLB stats system?

Yeah, but the point is we can't sign those kind of players any more. Dyche himself said we have been priced out by the market. That is why those players were signed a few years ago now.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:11 pmWould be good. Had we done that we might have got players like Pope, Taylor, JBG, Westwood etc.
They also weren't 'that' young. When we signed the likes of Ings, Mee and Trippier they were a lot younger.
To put that into perspective. Trippier is younger than Westwood, yet played for us in 2011 and played in the premier league for us in 2014.
Since we can't sign Charlie Taylors at an affordable amount any more, we either sign older, or younger. I'd prefer younger.
