History suggests we have to come out on top against the mini-league we're in, and hope to steal the odd point from the bigger boys. We're doing well currently, given we've only had one game against a club that would have been fancied for the bottom 6 before the season started. The next 4 games are huge and we need a return of at least 6/7 points in my opinion. If that doesn't happen we'll very quickly be drawn into must wins every week... and that's usually a downward spiral!

Proper overreaction. Like last season I sense we’ll get stronger as the season goes on and as such I don’t see any panic as long as we’re still in touch at Christmas.
I really enjoy their blogs as a whole though.

Mine too, I haven't listened as much lately due to my change in commuting habits but it's generally my first port of call.
I also like Turfcast, especially the pre game interviews, there have been some excellent, very professional fans from other clubs on there.

Any credit for Foster this season has been through gritted teeth and based on this season in isolation he deserves a lot of credit. The opposition has been tough and our setup has been to the detriment of our forward players, Anthony, Foster and to a lesser extent Tchaouna have done as well as can be expected.
We have shown in the three league games (at home) that we will not be a pushover for anyone, there won't be sides looking at a trip to Turf Moor as a banker this season. Having seen us play, I am probably slightly more positive than I was in August, rather than less so.

FWIW I find Daz pretty measured and able to take off the Claret tinted specs. Seems logical to be concerned whether we can score enough goals to stay up.

One of the worst seasons we had for scoring goals was the season we got to Europe and one of the best was the Kompany season. Our hopes in this league will never be based on scoring goals.Alan Young wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 5:45 pmFWIW I find Daz pretty measured and able to take off the Claret tinted specs. I can see that thought process but which sides have we played?Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 8:07 pmI think his point was based around not seeing us keeping enough clean sheets and needing a minimum of 2 goals.
The two games against clubs ******* in the same pond as us has seen us take four points, only concede one goal and score three ourselves. Just because Sunderland have had such a good start is out of our hands, we can only control the game we played against them and we did the job and got a well earned and well deserved three points.
The teams we have faced so far are currently in the following positions:-
1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 14th & 17th
I think we have been in every one of those fixtures, even though a couple of them ran away from us eventually.
We need to average a point a game to stay up and even with the horrific fixtures to start the campaign, are only two points adrift of that target.
Everybody is entitled to their opinion and it may be a factual one come May but I've seen enough in a short window to suggest that Dubravka, Walker, Hartman, Luis and Ugochukwu give us a real base to stay up.
Will we? I don't know but think we will still be well in the mix right to the very end.
Glass half full? Definitely but I think there's enough about us to take that stance.

The podcast suffers from not having glass half full participants. You know it’s trouble when Chris Boden is the voice of optimism. They tend to begrudgingly praise when required but dive deep into the problems to the point of self flagaration. It gets wearisome listening to the depressing tone each week, hence why I have gone from listening most weeks last season to seldom this season.

I pointed that out on here many weeks ago, he gives Burnley zero credit and seems to be intent on doubling down on his negative thoughts and comments despite genuine hope after our early season performances. One episode he even seemed more intent in trying to crowbar Everton in the conversation at any given opportunityGoody1975 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 5:04 pmand has been since before a ball was kicked.

Re: From the Bee Hole End podcast…
Just seen this and having heard the latest version there are some quite harsh comments.
Yes, I chuckled too when Daz described himself as an optimist, he should have been prosecuted under the Trade Descriptions Act for that
. He is dour but also has some good insights and as far as I can recall agreed with the others that it wouldn’t take much surgery in the January window to give us a real chance.
They seemed to think we were short a star striker in the absence of Broja being fully fit, and a CB partner for Maxi. They were also pessimistic we would score enough goals playing five at the back. I share all those concerns while applauding how we have done so far.
But if we get cut adrift (and we are already nearly 4+ points off most rivals) then we are in big trouble. That is undeniable.
I actually think the guys have been fairly gentle on Parker so far, particularly for leaving game changers on the bench (or in the stands) at vital moments when we are not winning, such as bringing those defensive players on against Forest. Personally I’d like a blend of Parker’s pragmatism as a general approach, with Kompany’s going for the win if we scent blood near the end (e.g. all those injury time winners in the promotion season).

This negativity is nothing to do with being grumpy and old though, there was very little balance towards the positive elements of the first six games in that episode.
Chris Boden has often fought a lone battle in many episodes and I've noticed his comments are often sneered at by one member of the podcast.
I brought this thread up, as I felt the negativity and basically saying our season will be defined on a single game in mid October is nonsense, especially from a group of men who very far from being irrational teenagers and are experienced in following a small town club in a big city league
Is we win at Villa Park, is the home game against Leeds still a MUST win?
Anyway, I think I'll leave this alone now as I've made my point and don't want to go overboard.

A lot of people (myself included) had doubts for well over half of last season that we didn't have enough goals in us to get promoted. It turned out that we had more than enough in the end.Alan Young wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 5:45 pmFWIW I find Daz pretty measured and able to take off the Claret tinted specs. It's early days and we've had a tough start but I'm really encouraged by some of the quality we've shown so far and I think we're more than capable of beating anyone in the bottom half of the league.
Leeds at home is a big game, but it's only a 'must win' if you've got little confidence in us beating other teams.

Re: From the Bee Hole End podcast…
Chris was saying that a draw against Leeds wouldn't be a bad result as it takes two points from them.
I think that if you look at the fixture list - games such as Leeds at home are the ones we have to be winning if we are to get to the magic number needed to stay up.
There's been loads of praise for the team this season and I think most of us have been really encouraged by a lot of the performances. The theme of the pod was 'The Season Starts Now'. We had by far the most difficult fixture list of the promoted clubs so hopefully we can kick on now.

Balance
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it seems the negative ones come easier. Not having a go any anyones opinion either I just think for the guys that doing it that put their time and energy into it , they deserve praise for even giving us Long Car Drivers something to look forward to , along with the Turf Cast also... It's great to have
It's a great podcast and keep up the great work

Re: From the Bee Hole End podcast…
Like the Podcast. It's just a serious conversation about the club.
I think Daz makes a lot of sense. Two years ago as far as I recall 98 per cent on here thought we would stay up and many continued singing the same song long after it was obvious to someone from Darwen we were way short. Chris also makes sense. You can listen to both and get a different perspective.
Too many snowflakes these days. Schooling at Barden and getting battered by pumps, metre rulers and board dusters would have knocked it out of 'em....! If you can cope with a board duster pinged between your eyes you can cope with a bit of negativity.
Wokey Dokey Trigger Warning
Some of the above might not be entirely serious

I have no issues with the podcast. I think the content is excellent and the only thing I want is for people to speak their truth. They’ve put themselves forward to give an opinion and I respect them for that. It’s a very good show and it is certainly part of the week that I enjoy escaping to for half an hour or so. Thank you for the great work you put into it, guys.

Re: From the Bee Hole End podcast…
The podcast is “defnley” better for varying the contributors. Having 4-5 voices felt a bit disjointed to me, but it’s more like a discussion thanks to the smaller numbers this season.
The only downside is Bentley having to contribute more. His football knowledge is almost exclusively limited to his previous
role at the club. There’s been several times this season where some fairly significant bits of Burnley news has passed him by - “What’s happened to Amdouni? He’s just vanished”.

Re: From the Bee Hole End podcast…
I feel the criticism is a bit over the top. I thought there was balance in the last podcast. I'm more on Boden's side than Bentley's. Bentley has been a bit gloomy this year. It's an authentic opinion though and helps to make the podcast more interesting. Everyone agreeing is a bit ****. I wouldn't castigate him for it. I understand his concerns about the striking options, I think we needed a forward as well. The fan viewpoint is much needed, we don't attract the best publicity or great amounts of coverage.
On other major podcasts, we've largely been ignored due to Sunderland or the harshness of the results against Liverpool/United overlooked. Think it was Adrian Clarke on the Totally Football podcast who said we'd performed reasonably well so far. He's pure Arsenal as a former player but covered some of our Championship games last season and that's been as good as it as got elsewhere.
If you want some **** analysis listen to Talksport, the presenter on Saturday's opinion of our approach this season was absolute dogshit.

I personally think the podcast has got better and better, I had an issue with them seemingly sitting on the fence too much at first but thats not the case anymore. Great knowledge and pretty funny blokes for the best part, should definitely invite more opinions from fellow supporters to read out on the show imo.

Re: From the Bee Hole End podcast…
It's a decent podcast and I admit it took a while for me to warm to it again this PL season after how atrocious last PL. Daz can be a bit dour but cut him in half he'd bleed Burnley and he is only one who hasn't been a reporter as sorts so he just tends to say things as he sees it and I don't mind that. On a sideways note, I love Joe TurfCast podcast, particularly when he gets opposition fans on for previews etc and he seems like a lovely lad. Would be great if FTBHE had a few opposition fan/reporters on leading uoto some big games, adds a good perspective.
Without being rude though, can Chris Boden please put his laptop/camera at eye level because I'm fed up of looking at his nostrils and his nose hair. I swear he puts the laptop on the floor during the video recordings
He needs to take inspiration from Justin and Andrews setup! All joking aside, it's a very good podcast/vidcast though

We are on -4 against Leeds, -7 against Sunderland etc etc. It is only Wolves we are ahead of.
That is mitigated by us having had a harder start, but then that pivots back to the pod squad rightly saying it puts pressure on our upcoming games, aka “the season starts here”.
My view is we can only control the controllable. So that means ignore everyone else, we have to get to 36 points (probably, but could be more), so we ignore the noise and how others are doing, and just try to get those 32 remaining points from 32 games. But that is darn difficult to ignore the noise, hence why we were shafted, again, with that fixture list.

If we average 4pt from 6 against teams out of the top 6 or 7 we would stay up....we've already done that, so the season has well and truly started.

Re: From the Bee Hole End podcast…
We haven't played 6 games against teams in the top 6 or 7. United are 14th and Forest are 17th and we got 1 point from 6 in those games.
Brentford battered United last week and while we were unlucky with the Penalty United could have been 4 or 5 up at half time.
Tomorrow we play Villa who are 16th so after 7 games we will have played 14th, 16th and 17th in the first 7 games: three in the bottom 6 and four in the top 7. If we lose against Villa then we will have 4 points from 7 games against a reasonable distribution of teams in the PL: relegation!
The season very much depends upon us getting 5 points in the next 3 games so we end up with 9 from 9. Anything less is relegation form - that is, if you want to use the first 9 games to extrapolate a final position. After that we have Arsenal and Chelsea at home and West Ham away.
I think Mr Bentley is entirely correct the next 3 games will give us a real sense of where we are. We need to beat Wolves and Leeds or we will end up almost a third of the season gone in the bottom 3.
It's a very tough season in a very tough league.
