Rumour has it that they were still paying his old contract, so in that sense it's a saving for the club to reappoint him. They were paying 2 managers last week (Wilder ex-manager, Selles current) and now they're still paying 2 managers (Selles ex-manager, Wilder current).

I think that's exactly how it is and his contract still runs until the end of next season

Someone mentioned that if he gets them up this season,
he'll be the first Championship manager to do so after the club has lost their first 5 games.

Wilder mentioned today about the owners wanting to use AI and that was one of the issues.

I found it interesting, I have been pondering the merits of online scouting and data analysis for some time, but my brain hasn’t made the leap to the potential of AI to improve a team. Logically, it will be in-game analysis, not just scouting and post-game reviews.

Seems to me that the game will need laws brought in to avoid computers taking over mid-match changes. It’d be like hatred of VAR on steroids.

Not saying that is the Sheff Utd exact situation, I just found it interesting to ponder where things may lead.

Why? I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't happening already btw - you'll notice most managers have ipads in the dugout now. There are probably tons of AI insights being fed to them during each game, which some managers will likely be using to help make decisions.

Exactly. It can sift through a large database, but you still need the experience human eye when it comes down to the nitty gritty

When you don’t do background checks it causes dressing room problems. Thankfully we are back to doing that with Parker.
