my brother in law and both my father and mother in law all have suffered from schizophrenia. My father in law passed away around 15 years ago but my brother in law and mother in law manage their illnesses through medication. My mother in law has lived with us since the death of my father in law and although it has been very challenging, her condition is currently stable. Schizophrenia only seems to get reported in the press with negative stories. However, we have four young children (it’s a very busy house!) and I can honestly say, she is the best grandparent to them. It has also taught our children (and me for that matter) a lot about compassion and understanding of different mental health issues.
