As good as Newcastle are looking they got absolutely battered by Milan who had 25 shots at goal 9 on target. Newcastle managing just a single shot on target. Only Nick Pope saved them with a wonderful display.
Luckily for Sheffield they aren’t playing Milan next.

They looked there for the taking from.the outset today. Wasn't expecting 8 though.

I think we all knew the gap was big.
But is the gap really this big between prem and the championship?
Three promoted teams have played a collective 16 games for 3 points. No idea what the aggragate goal difference is but it must be around mid 20s after that Sheffield result.

But then remember that Sheffield were so close to winning at Spurs last week.
They were but, as I said at the time, they defended like hell, nicked a goal, defended like hell again but couldn't hang on. A real under dog's performance.
That's all they've got.
If they concede, they are done for at this level.
We have far more potential.

Mind you, getting beaten 0-8 by a Saudi backed Newcastle United still isn’t as bad as getting beaten 0-7 by Rotherham

No team in the league would do that to us at home BY THAT MANY
Not even Man City, Barcelona, PSG

100% agree.
Results like that only happen to clubs with massive issues.

Biggest margin of defeat in Sheffield United’s history. Previous worst was 10-3 in 1933.

it's not a gap its a chasm
Money talks. These money clubs didn't need to join the super league to ruin the pyramid they've already done it

PH is a goner, there was not fight in that team at all, sloppy passes no attempts to win the ball back, second to all the loose balls and not bothering to mark anyone.
Newcastle were doing more chasing back when they were 7 in front than SU did the whole game

We are easily the best team in the bottom 3 by a country mile. We have had fixtures against4 of the very best teams in the league and the other one against a similar club we should have got more than a point.

Man U put 9 past Ipswich many years ago, and Southampton have twice conceded 9 in recent times.

Watched a lot of prem football this weekend and I honestly believe the quality is at an all time high.
Even the teams between 7-10 have unbelievably good squads.

But it's always been a struggle for promoted clubs to stop up.
If it's never been as big how come Derby only got 11 points, & Villa 16 points quite a few seasons ago?

Is the model broken, and this will be the season that dooms it?
The gap has become too big and the three promoted clubs will be cast adrift?

It was being suggested a couple of weeks ago but I don't think that's the best idea

I can't see EVERY club that gets promoted for the next few seasons being relegated.

Yes, fair point.
It just feels different, the shift is bigger.
For what it's worth however I think we'll be fine.

Interestingly, when we went down in 09/10 we had 30 points. That I think is/or was the lowest points total for the club finishing in 18th.

And yet there are six squads this season that cost more than Newcastle 's, two of which cost not far short of double.

I suspect this will be the end for Heckingbottom
Why would you get rid of a manager who’s got you promoted so early in the season? They’re below us only on goal difference, yet no sane-minded Burnley fan would even give a thought to canning Kompany.

You are probably right but I was nervous when Spurs 5th went in after 66 minutes!

I wouldn’t but there has been a lot of speculation in the last two weeks. He was odds on to be the next manager to go a few days ago and he’s now 1/4 with Sky Bet.

He changed to a back 4 for the second half and quite a lot of the Sheff Utd fans are saying they can't play that way. It seemed to open them up even more.

And the aussie div as well I see. Appalling decision that chelsea sending off. These guys have absolutely no understanding of the game and they're ruining it.
