This, absolutely. Why should any Burnley fan even give them a thought without thinking “ Karma “. The 86-87 season, the plane, the “ We’re having a party when you go down “ singing, and relegation party invites all over the internet, during our ill fated first Premier League season. As a die hard Burnley fan, every one of those hurt me, and realistically, did any of us really think that we would be light years ahead of them 10-15 years later? No, of course not, - so let’s enjoy it. Revel in it, and hope that the Venkys can complete their mission, and wipe this festering turd from the football landscape.

Long live the Venkys.

Festering turd sums it up well.

We've said it for years:

the endless gloating when uncle jack was chucking buckets of his cash at them

their delight when we nearly went out of existence

full page spreads in the Burnley express offering free tickets to schoolchildren to come and watch 'East Lancashires only Premier League club' fck off

'We were the best run club in England ' no you really weren't

The plane flying over

I could go on but I think you get the point.

And even now they still somehow still think they are 'better' than us, or that they deserve to be above us. Deluded, entitled bturds.

Meanwhile we quietly did it the hard way.

UTC.

I'm sorry if I offended you pal, but I stand by what I said. The Rovers fans who defend Venky's fall into two camps:

1) Those, who due to age, know nothing except the Venky era at Blackburn. To them, the last 15 years aren't as bad as what others say they are. They look on at those complaining as being angry, old men/women, who aren't "proper fans" because they dare to criticise the hierarchy and the club.

These younger fans are "top fans" in their own lunchtime and accept any shite that the club feeds them without question. They think they are diehard and the real fans in the fanbase, but in reality they are being taken for mugs and are enabling the destruction of their club by trying to appear "reasonable". The hierarchy laughs at these people.

2) The older fans who have seen it all. They know and remember very well what Venky's and their agent pals have done to the club, they know how far standards have fallen since 2010. However, after years of frustration and distress, they have now decided to "be positive" instead and overlook all that has gone on before.

In their quest for a positive state of mind, they have decided that the Premier League days were just an illusion and that mid table championship isn't all that bad, that the situation today isn't all that bad. They have convinced themselves they actually don't want Premier League football because Rovers would "get battered anyway". These people were once "Venky's out" but their new fake, toxic positive tune for a quiet life is "but who will buy us, be careful what you wish for...at least Venky's pay the bills".

I'm sure your son in law is a top man, but that doesn't make him right about Rovers. Why is it Venky's or bust by the way? Is there nobody in the world that would buy Blackburn? When billionaires are buying Tranmere, Carlisle and other smaller clubs? Why is the idea of somebody buying Rovers unrealistic?

You say he wasn't born when they won the title. That tells me that this is the naivety of youth that is being portrayed as a "realistic" attitude. Let's assume he was born in 1998...that means he would have been 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 years old when Rovers had the likes of Duff, Dunn, Tugay, Cole, Jansen, Pedersen, Bellamy and so on. What does he remember of those times? By the time he was of an age to really understand football, the Venky bastards arrived. Poor lad.

I'm sorry to say, but he doesn't know or remember the standards of Blackburn Rovers, let me tell you...and this is coming from a Claret who doesn't have much of a fondness for them.

No serious Blackburn Rovers supporter can defend what Venky's have done. If they had taken the Clarets from a top 10 Premier League club in 2010 to the shite that Rovers are today, everybody here would be fuming and rightly so. The League finishes in the 70s and 80s would be of no relevance. Anybody telling Clarets in that scenario to "be grateful Venky's are paying the bills" would be given the shortest, swiftest and most fitting of responses.

What's my point? Simple. The Venky sympathisers need to ******* wake up and get a grip if they want to get their club back. They have been conditioned for 12 years now to just accept Championship mediocrity and to smile while it's happening.
Well that was an apology wrapped in an attack with a serious dose of condescension. Why did you even bother apologising when you then went on to repeat the same old bullshite? He wants Venkys out but realises that that is a major difficulty given the debt Rovers owe to them. And do you think he is so stupid as to not know the history of his club inside out?
You give off the feel of someone whose blind hatred of Rovers means you cannot give credit to the intelligence of anyone who supports them. You seem to think there are two types of Rovers fan, those who remember the good times (and are therefore deluded in some way) or those who don’t (who are therefore too young and naïve to be allowed to make a judgement call).
The ridiculous mutual hatred between our two clubs is beginning to sound more childish by the day. Yes, I once hated clubs (Rovers, Spurs, Arsenal, Utd, etc) but then I grew up. I don’t hate any club any more, I don’t feel I have to. Yes I like the rivalry but to hate another club and its fans is, I see now, without any logic or common sense.

Wish for them to be under our boot or in the doldrums for the rest of time, occasionally rising up from the murky depths of L2 to get slapped back down again by all means, but don't wish them out of existence is my view.

Why did it feel so good when we finally beat them? Why does our ongoing dominance elicit such joy? It's because we were under THEIR boot for years too. What other feeling would surpass that? Beating Nobbers, Lashers, Notlob? Never. They're a pale imitation of what has been a fairly evenly matched rivalry.

You'll never feel only the way they can make you feel again if they die. No one to laugh at, no excitement on a match day, no elation when we put them to the sword again, no more banter, endless funny content from their fans, employees and so on.

Give me a rivalry like Bristol City and Rovers, Stoke and Port Vale, something like that. Always in our rear view mirror. That's a fate worse than death for them and retains our fun at their expense.

Also we were only under their boot for so long as they were financially doped up to their eyeballs. We have grafted from the bottom of the 4th division up to where we are now. Any financial rewards we have accrued have been due to our own hard work, not a sugar daddy of multi-billionare consortium taking us over.

Remember how giddy they were when the Venkys took over, and gloating about potentially signing Ronaldinho and Beckham?

Reap what you sow turds. When something looks too good to be true, it usually is.

I think this is such a good post. I can’t quite understand the hatred some of our fans feel, although I do dislike them far more than any other club. Until I retired just before Christmas last year, I worked with a Blackburn fan who was a cracking lad, and very appreciative of what we had achieved.
Big Gaz is spot on when he describes how he would like to see them progress. Enjoy their lack of success but also enjoy our successes against them- if they are anywhere close to our level.
Hatred no, dislike yes.

There was talk earlier on that they would rather let Sheffield United beat them to keep us out of the automatic spots. The football boot is on the other foot now!!!!

I doubt you could persuade the players (of either side) to be so petty. Whatever some of the fans might think.

Definitely. I was referring to fans rather than players.

If it came to the worst, six points against them next season, can't see Venkys opening their wallet.

Looking back on this, I think you're right, mate. That was a rubbish apology. It wasn't meant as a personal attack on your son in law, but that's how it comes across. Sincere apologies for going too far in those posts. I know there are Rovers fans who dislike those owners but still want their club to win and are in a difficult spot regarding wanting them out or not.

I don't like Rovers, but it does wind me up seeing people defend those owners. That's why I wrongly jumped to make those posts. You weren't doing that though, so apologies, once again.

Here's hoping your son in law has something to celebrate at Bramall Lane next weekend. They've waited a long time.

The Premier League is a poorer place without the Clarets and Rovers in it. Let's get the big game on in the big league. It really would be wonderful if we could do our bit next Saturday by beating Millwall.

Sorry it’s taken a while to reply, I do take a break from this site occasionally. Thanks for your intelligent and measured reply. It’s easy to take things personally on here and we shouldn’t. Thank you for your sincere apology.
I must admit that my views on Rovers have mellowed somewhat since my son in law came along. He’s a seriously nice lad who also happens to be one of the biggest football fans I know. He even watches Burnley on the tele when they are on.
