World cup thread
Re: World cup thread
Belgium just don’t look right to me. Not well balanced. Tunisia playing well.

Sharp going forward with somE World class players but suspect at the back. Don't think they have a weak player but they lack intensity at the back. I would imagine Kompany will help with that when they face us.Dyched wrote:Belgium just don’t look right to me. Not well balanced. Tunisia playing well.

I believe the record (13) has already been surpassed.Claret wrote:Another penalty! Have there been loads of penalties or is it that we’re Burnley fans and not used to seeing them?
Re: World cup thread
Agree. It’ll too late once Kompany plays I suspect. Lakuku is crucial imo. Whilst top class players the likes of Hazard, Mertens, De Bruyne ain’t exactly clinical.Claretmatt4 wrote:Sharp going forward with somE World class players but suspect at the back. Re: World cup thread
I'm expecting a few goals in the England - Belgium game. Our back 3 aren't great and Belgium will pick more holes than a swiss cheese. But I don't think their defence is that great either.
Re: World cup thread
The way the groups are panning out it might be better for England to finish second behind Belgium.

Re: World cup thread
As things stand, we'd be playing Japan. But I think it's more about the Quarters, should we get there. It's likely to be one of Brazil or Germany as the opponents. Which is why I think that's the furthest we can go.TVC15 wrote:The way the groups are panning out it might be better for England to finish second behind Belgium.

Re: World cup thread
You can see why they haven't taken Nainggolan with the system Martinez wants to play, Witsel is very good surprised he decided to **** his career away so early.

Re: World cup thread
I think you're probably right, FactualFrank. I saw Sweden's win against SK and they have very little up front. If the Germans score early on I think the Swedes might get a hammering.

Re: World cup thread
Mexicans are the worst for feigning injury. Multiple times they went down clutching their limbs then just got back up when they realised they retained the ball.
When will refs and commentators punish and call out this blatant cheating.
Infuriating.

I think there should be a booking for any player who rolls over more than twice. It's as bad as removing the shirt after scoring.

I don’t like players feinting injuries either but glad the SKs were carded for their fowls in the second half.

The excellent result belgium-tunisia to bring England players and fans back into perspective. We are very much underdogs in tournament football and should be viewed as such. Are you listening media? Get off their backs!

this. it's especially worse when they use the 'injured' leg to continue their momentum.FactualFrank wrote:I think there should be a booking for any player who rolls over more than twice. It's as bad as removing the shirt after scoring.
histrionics are a real problem that a governing body could deal with.
but no, legitimise them with slow motion.

Re: World cup thread
I was hoping to see Germany go out but now the commentator just said they last went out early in 1938. That put Germany in a bit of a mood for the next few years. I'm not sure it's worth it.

Re: World cup thread
Germans should have been down to 10 men after 6 minutes Swedes then awarded a penalty after that awful refereeing again.
Still a superbly well taken Swedish goal has them in the lead after the 1st half.
