I always try to subscribe to the line quoted above and support the decisions made by the club and the management even though I sometimes feel uneasy about the events unfolding in front of my eyes.
I think for taking this line I have been described as a "happy clapper"
The thing that irks me more, (not something I’m accusing you of)
Is the squabbling that comes from people pigeon holing fans as this or that.
There was a time when I thought SD was good for the club. And there also came a time when I thought SD was no longer good for the club.
The same can be said of VK. But its mostly with hindsight.
But the main thing is: despite this being a forum for opinions, I tend to keep the (perceived) negative stuff to myself to avoid the repercussions on here the small minded few that cant respectfully have a difference of opinion.

I really don't care how many goals Barnes scored last season or the season before, I think it was a key player in our promotion, as was Harwood-Bellis, as was Maatsen, as was Tella.
And the player's in this current squad will be key to our promotion next season

How many are likely to stay with VK exiting and will the new manager want them, we have a very bloated squad and I just do not see Berge wanting another season in the championship.

I can see more wanting to stay once Kompany goes than wanting to leave like Twine, Benson, Zaroury and Tressor to name four

Twine is one we need rid of, Benson hasn't played really for 12 months, Zaroury didn't do much at Hull, Tresor hopefully a season in the championship will let us see what he's really about

I did laugh last week at the pre-Forest press conference when Kompany was asked about Benson & Zaroury and he said they would return motivated for next season.

I hope he is hoping and the initial phone call wasn't lost in translation ie they for some bizarre reason wanted to buy MUD analytical and they just said they want to buy Vincent's company and Mr ego got the wrong end of the stick.

Barnes ran the front line and encouraged both Benson and particularly Zaroury, to do their stuff. He was integral to our promotion. Very surprised he was not retained.

Like last time there are probably lots of clauses and addons for the lawyers to sift through. It took an age for him to take the job here so im expecting the same here. We need him gone ASAP though so we can get on with finding and employing his successor.
Completely agree it's brings final closure to the long drawn out saga. I think some people will be critical with the compensation agreed/reported without fully understanding the need to get rid of the excessive pay the drop of the championship brings. The hero status might live in some memories with the ewood visit but the harsh financial reality should promptly reset that & hopefully time transport to today. But then again there shouldn't be any expectation different from the gravity that will plummet some down to the residential habitual cloud cuckoo land.

Totally agree with this, and to add further the way he enthused the young players against different types of opposition and protected them where needed, it would be great to see him back at the club in some form of coaching position,

Barnes in the home derby was the perfect centre forward performance, an absolute thing of beauty. It wasn’t the only time he was excellent in the Championship season and it shows why you need leaders and experience in any team/league.

Outstanding against Blackburn but his two best performances I thought in that season were at Bournemouth in the cup and then at Norwich.

Personally I think that barnes performance at home against rovers turned the course of the season, I know we had the World Cup break after that but from that game onwards we looked completely dialled in and unstoppable until we had a P next to our name

I wouldn't say turned, we'd won four of the previous five including that big one at Sunderland, but it made sure we retained our place at the top of the league going into the World Cup.

We had just lost 5-2 to Sheffield United though, that performance for me turned the season to completely forget about that performance

And I think we'd have gone into the 4-week World Cup break with Blackburn top of the Championship had we lost.

To be fair, I have seen Zaroury doing private training sessions most days since the Hull season has ended on Instagram. Initially in his Burnley training gear, which I thought was a nice touch. Good attitude and pretty sure he’ll be motivated coming back in.

As long as VK's ego can take being 7th or 8th choice, it should continue to develop. It has been a long weekend.

If he's a professional he will be working harder than ever with his career at a crossroads. Not sure why people think he would be lacking motivation because he was dropped.
Would people have expected the likes of George Boyd, Scott Arfield etc to sulk when Dyche dropped them?
Doesn't matter if he was hard done to, there's only one good way to react to it.

Regarding Barnes, surely we all remember how poor he was at the start of the season, up to his usual antics which didn't go down well with most of us. It seems VK - and his coaches - got (and still gets as far as I'm concerned) some credit for changing this and making Barnes such a key player.

Does anyone else think “mission to Burnley” got VK this opportunity. I’m sure whoever’s recruiting would have watched it… what we got was a very idealised version of VK.

Thanks Tony. Will be interesting to see if he’s proven right on this. Started as super reliable for us, fell off a bit and seems clued in to what’s happening with Kompany so hopefully he’s right and we’re close to the end of this saga now.
I imagine we won’t here much from him once the Belgian link is broken.

No way was Matt Goss next in line.
Joe Exotic was in the running with Kompany but couldn't make the interview.

I didn't know when he was flying out but you would assume he needs to be there to sign the final papers so hopefully it means we are one step closer to the deal being completed. I reckon Sacha has been on it right from the start.

Yes, fair assumption I think. You know the minute he lands there will be photographs so I really hope we announce it before he flys out.

Why? There'll be a certain agreement between the clubs on when it can be announced, if it's at the same time, or if it's one before the other.

Until he flies out, he can't sign the agreements. Until they are signed he's not there head coach so we can't announce anything.
My theory is now that all the paper work will be done by tomorrow and then hopefully an announcement tomorrow with it already said that Bayern will do their press on the Thursday.

Finding it interesting how many posts are referring to VK’s ego which I don’t recall seeing much opinion on previously. I have seen a lot on stubbornness, overthinking, ruthless etc (all legit criticisms) but ego is a new one. Accurate, I think, may not be somebody who could ever entertain a 3rd party opinion. Good luck with that at Bayern.
A manager with a good dose of humility would be a good thing. May help the player’s mentality in tough times too.

Pretty sure he will have access to Docusign on his ipad.
Bayern will understandably want Kompany in the building for media photos, interviews etc. before announcing anything.

Yes, but it's normal practice to have a photo shoot with pen in hand signing on the dotted line, with their officials present. Then a press conference. (Even though he may well have done something electronically in advance)
