I'm being talked into buying a plug in hybrid
Can anyone give first hand experience of getting a charger / moving energy company etc?

What, in your opinion, are the advantages and disadvantages of each mode of transportation?dsr wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 11:25 pmIf you're trying to prove that breaking the journey for a recharge is not an inconvenience compared with going straight home, then you're wasting your time because it clearly is to most people, if not to you.
Why would you not find a charging station at the ground? Well, the number of charging stations in walking distance of Coventry's ground is probably set so there are enough for normal usage, not for when there are 20,000+ extra visitors. That's why they might all be occupied.
You don't need to be so defensive about electric cars. I'm not saying that petrol cars are better in every respect, and nor need anyone say that electric cars are better in every respect. They both have advantages and disadvantages.

Simple answer?exilecanada wrote: ↑Thu Sep 18, 2025 9:25 pmWhat, in your opinion, are the advantages and disadvantages of each mode of transportation?
Petrol advantage: You can fill up at any of thousands of convenient petrol stations in 5 minutes or less.
Petrol disadvantage: Believed to be worse for the climate to drive a petrol car than to drive a car driven by gas-fuelled electricity.
Electric advantage: They tell me they're great to drive, and they are cheap to run and easy to charge if you have home charging.
Electric disadvantage: Second hand ones with good range cost a lot more than second hand petrol cars.
This is based on medern conditions, of course. In time, no doubt electric second hand models will get cheaper, recharging may well get quicker, we will have sufficient renewable electricity not to need gas-fuelled electric, etc. These pros and cons are as of now, not future proofed.

Cheap to run at the moment dsr….as you suggest in the final paragraph
Once we are all in them, the charging costs will go through the roof. No way does the treasury lose out on all that money generated from petrol/diesel sales. They've started already with the road tax that used to be nothing….
