Given your outbursts on twitter regarding Parker, it’s no wonder you are against this
Last signing I had an issue with was Shelvey, you hounded me on here across a bunch of posts for saying that was a poor signing and waste of money because his legs had gone whilst you said he was going to be great.
How'd that work out?

Hopefully will be one that gets the attention of other players that might’ve been on the fence about signing for us too. Very clever window so far.

Exactly when he still had pace anyone who still thinks he's a top defender only have to ask why Pep loaned him out
But as I've said many times on here it's about opinions and I never abuse anyone who disagrees with me .

Three years ago when he was starting for England in Euro finals and winning the treble with City?
He’s was in the premier league team of the season 12 months ago haha.
How can anyone possibly be against this signing. This is as good as it possibly gets. This is the equivalent of us signing Van Dijk in a year or so.

Shelvey was on pay as you play, and then got injured, the issue was you suggest Hugil should of been getting minutes and he’s not been released.
You are massively clutching trying to compare signing Shelvey last season to now signing Walker.
Even by your standards it’s poor

With respect not being good enough for Man City, who can spend 50 mil to replace him doesn't mean that he's not still way better than what we have or could attract and or afford.
If Pep has any more cast offs.....

My views on this signing are same as the Shelvey one. Walker is not the player he was, his legs have gone and I think it's a poor signing.
And b****cks was Shelvey pay as you play, he didn't walk away from a well paid contract in Turkey for nothing.

He’s definitely not the player he was, but he’s still a fantastic athlete and for our ambitions (finishing 17th), he is probably the best possible right back we could possibly get. I can’t think of anyone even remotely close that we know will perform at that high of a level.
Completely agree. Could even be better suited in a system where his main priority is defending as well.

Yeah paid out by Turkish club, he was pay as your play for Burnley, hence why he wasn’t around the club after the injury.
You are basing Walkers legs going from one game whisky Senegal at the end of the season, how about supporting the club and manager and giving him a chance.

Or, because I still think it’s possible we go with a five:
Hartman Humphreys Esteve Tuanzebe Walker
Or Walker as part of the back 3 as he has done for England many times. Can also play left back if required too.

BBC at 8.19pm
Manchester City defender Kyle Walker is close to joining Burnley after passing a medical at the Premier League newcomers.
The 35-year-old England right-back will sign a two-year contract with the Clarets, having spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Serie A side AC Milan.
The move will end Walker's eight-year stay at City, where he won 17 trophies including six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League.
He made 15 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side in the last campaign before joining Milan, who did not activate the option to sign Walker permanently.
His City contract was set to expire next summer.
Walker will link up at Burnley with head coach Scott Parker, who he played alongside at Tottenham during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
The defender was part of Thomas Tuchel's England squad during June's international fixtures and won his 96th cap in a 3-1 friendly defeat by Senegal.

From a footballing point of view signing Walker is probably a good move, but from a financial point of view, not so sure. Surely we can't pay him anywhere near what he was pulling in at Citeh. To pay him the silly money would upset our salary structure, and pi** off the other players. Also, is Parker collecting right backs like Kompany collected wingers? We now have Roberts, the ex Ipswich dude, Sonne and Walker.

Great signing, and I'm usually less than enthusiastic about players who are past their very best. But Walker would give us a whole lot of PL match experience.

Agree, although we will need him to be on it defensively especially with crosses and through balls from the other wing. He can’t rely on his pace anymore to bail him out so he will need to be switched on with his positioning spot on.
On the face of it though, this seems to be a very astute signing!

I think Tuanzebe is here hoping to prove his match fitness. I doubt he'll play much in the early season.

I'm honestly amazed by this one.
Walker was a world class player in his position at one point. Past his best he may be but his best was levels above where we are.
This * prospective signing actually gave me the kind of buzz I rarely get from football these days.
Edit- don't want to count my chickens before they hatch.

I didn’t belittle them at all, I said their development would be better playing football week in week out in lower leagues, and not put pressure on them during an intense promotion battle. don’t try and twist it.
So the fact Matt Williams himself said Shelvey was pay as you play
His legs at the top top level might of gone but he would still be starting right back for a good 12-15 teams in the prem.
You are truly the worst ‘Burnley fan’ on the socials

Merging the Kyle Walker speculation with the general speculation thread was a bad idea. I thought it had been deleted at first.
Theres general speculation, and there’s possibly signing Kyle walker. This probably won’t be the last thread started if merged again

I think Tuanzebe has been signed as a central defender although he can play right back.

If we do/have sighed KW for £5m I’d say it’s a great signing . Ok he’ll probs only last a season but a still high class player with endless prem experience is just what we need .
Like it or not we’ll probs need at least 2 quality older ( not as old as KW) “ off the peg” prem players who won’t have sell on value to guide us through this season . Brownhill’s replacement perhaps ?
Anyway a nice bit of business imo .
