I think the delay is due to his gravitas, as a worldwide recognised perveyor of news, Neil’s word has to be rock solid and so a lot of digging required.

Ukraine/Moldova power grid now connecting to the European one (disconnected from the Russian one on the eve of war)
These things are huge in the geo political scheme of things, even though they seem relatively minor, and there won't be a reason to go back
And also massively help Ukrainian security
You are seeing the West to all intents and purposes just effectively add another nation that was Russian into its boundaries, and Russia has just given it away by attacking it.
Someone is going to write a hell of a book about this, probably called something along the lines of "Putin and Ukraine - the gamble that failed"

I think he'd love it to be that Elwa!
He's not got the contacts and info streams he had when he was at the BBC
Still have him down as the best one on one interviewer out there, but this not on stuff like this
His attempts to post stuff about Russian links to the Uk over the past week have been (rightly) met with a storm of ridicule due to him ignoring them when they were pointed out to him years ago

the problem with agreeing to anything is Putin gets away with killing all these innocent people, the problem with not agreeing to everything he wants is more innocent people will die. If the Russians are getting their ass slapped then it will be interesting to see what the likes of America does here.

An arguable point, for another time certainly. However, I believe he still walks the gilded-towers both sides of the pond.

Priority is a ceasefire
Russia will expect things to go back to normal very quickly after that, and it will be interesting to see what input the West are having in the peace talks
Certainly Russia will expect sanctions to stop very quickly, while the West will be keen on maintaining them till Russia does what its said its going to do, which they have massive previous on not doing.
But the key will be not to push Russia into thinking its got nowhere to go

I'd be amazed if the West drops the sanctions after all the war crimes he has committed.

I think it would involve world-wide war reparation package way way in excess of what Russia could pay for sanctions to end. Think it is extremely unlikely as it would likely leave the door open for a ‘between the wars’ scenario.

The key will be Ukraine view on stuff like this
Russia should have to pay repatriations 100% but how is that spun in a way that Russia can see it as a "win"?

I mentioned it earlier, that’s going to hurt Russia.
Set up takes 10 minutes.
Range of about 40km. Edit link says it’s the 300 model with smaller range about 4 km.
Can destroy an armoured vehicle but not a tank. Website suggest it can take out a helicopter.
These could do massive damage to a convoy of trucks.
I think it’s an ideal drone to send them

Nice of them to tell us their plans!
Most well run countries will have plans to attack their potential enemies - that's what the military do when they're not actually fighting wars.
Furthermore, considering the difficulties in their war in Ukraine it would seem extremely wreckless to take this project on.

Huge decision in the INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE. The ICJ has ordered an immediate end to the invasion, failure to comply will lead to FULL WORLD sanctions fully isolating Russia.

MODERATOR - Please no more reports about ‘the’ Canada post - it’s gone and I completely agree. Unbefitting of this thread.

I have no idea what this means in practice, but every bit of pressure on Putin is good pressure.

This is now getting into the real genocide, just seen a news flash that the Russian bastards have bombed a theatre with hundreds of civilians inside.
I'd quite honestly turn to violence against Putin and his henchmen.

It all depends on what the territorial lines are I reckon. Russia surely won't give up what its already got from 2014, but Ukraine won't accept that
That Russian position though does rather suggest its in real trouble. I wonder just how badly their army is hurting in Ukraine?
Could it be even worse than we think?

(Just thinking about ICJ Ruling while out walking the dog) - of course along with other sanctions, once the hammer goes down on this ruling- As a nation operating outside the ICJ Russia will no longer enjoy its protection - for its borders, safeguards against assassinations etc.

Russia and Putin will lose an awful lot more than he could have ever possibly imagined. This invasion will go down in history as one of the worst decision ever made.

Whatever happens from here this is going to cost Russia for many many years, whatever they do to Putin now. The bill will choke Russia for years and decades to come. They are in for some very tough times.
Has to be handled very sensibly by the West and Ukraine
Yes, they must pay, but they must not be backed into a corner, there must be a way out for them that ends in normality or they could just decide to go all in

Someone posted & translated a speech Putin did today, broadcasted on Russian state TV….
Really is harrowing stuff
https://mobile.twitter.com/just_whateve ... 5501557762
Pure Eurasian fascism - exactly the stuff that renowned Russian philosopher and ex Kremlin advisor Alexander Dugin spouts
Extremely sinister
The guy is sounding more and more like

putin will get those parts of the east and an address by zelenskyy broadly aimed at the russian populous that ukraine won't ever join nato.
in return russia will withdraw and suffer a generation of pariah status and more hardship.
putin. what a guy.

Putin is at the "pining medals to the chests of 16 year old kids who have destroyed tanks with panzerfauts" stage of his rule

Thanks for that Coolcat, more than anything on here, I see that as a positive, Putin seems to be worried about his position from within, let's hope so.
