Winning 0-4 at Bournemouth, so being on our prick list won't worry him unduly....

Re: Klopp on Mee tackle
Hi Untinted, Wednesday night's MOTD is still available on BBC iPlayer. It's worth taking a look at what happened when Joe Gomez and Ben Mee both raced for the ball. The tv pictures show Ben getting there first and clearing the ball. Joe Gomez then collided with Ben. With the simple definition of the word there was no "tackle" because Gomez didn't have the ball. To do what Ben did - he couldn't have done it if he was "sliding" never mind from "6 yards" and certainly not "out of control."Untinted Glasses wrote:Correct. In the 80s I would but now I wouldn't. The game has changed. Sliding from 6 yards out of control is not really where we want the game to be going back to. This is why I am simply saying I agree with Klopp.
I agree he did take the ball but its the sliding and being out of control that is no longer acceptable. The game is changing, like it or not it is.
The money invested in the players will dictate this. In 2 or 3 seasons time a tackle the same as that will be a straight red. No question about that.
I understand all of your points but your not understanding mine. The game has changed
Of course, if Joe Gomez had got to the ball first, Ben would have had to work very hard to avoid a collision - and we could have had no complaints if the ref awarded a free kick....
I've not seen the discussion on Football Focus - but BBC is reporting that Paul Ince "believes Ben Mee's challenge on Joe Gomez in their fiery mid-week tie was "perfect"." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/46494645" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yes I heard what Ince said. He was right BUT he said "in his era" this is not his era, thats all I am saying. Football has moved on. He said if he wasn't allowed to tackle he wouldn't have had a career. Well he wouldn't have a career in this era neither would the likes of stuart pearce.
Look at how the game has changed form chopper harris days to now....and it will change again. Whether you like it or not it WILL change again.
I particularly do not like the way the game is going myself, however it's the way it is going I am afraid.
