Accidentally misread the thread title as "where would you date Ashley Barnes".
First thoughts would be probably somewhere unpretentious and traditional, so some sort of country pub that does everything with chips.

Sounds good to me. He's paying though, I need treating like a princess.
Re: Where would you rate Ashley Barnes
Well if this:-
"This is the crux of the matter. Someone starts a thread which completely slates a player with ridiculous hyperbole about their lack of skills, and a little way down the line, that player shows them up."
Is applied to ex-Brighton strikers, then we've done really, really well. The guy that went to Leicester, Ulloa, who a B+HA supporter described to me as a "one trick pony", failed (but won a title) at Leicester - who didn't actually ask him to perform his one trick - coming to the near post to head in a corner.
Then there is the "no-trick donkey's nose bag" Chris O'Grady who has proved that his particular bag should have been tied at the ass's other end. He's pocketed a ridiculous proportion of Chesterfield's salary budget to do f. all. If they'd spent that on a rank average league 2 striker and a nasty midfield player with a little bit of skill (like Bradley Dack, for example), they'd have stayed up no problem.
Kazenga LuaLua went to Sunderland. Enough said.
Craig Makhail Smith has disappeared to lower leagues somewhere and got injured (but no doubt has done better with one leg than O'Grady). Stephen Dobbie is doing ok in lower leagues in Scotland somewhere. There's a guy doing ok at Forest.
All in all then Ash is the one success of all this lot.
(and, superdimitri, you are spot on. They don't rate Sam either).

On the player ratings thread.
Or is this a trick question?
