Currently have that engine and no complaints thus far.

Not as economical as my last car. But i think that in part is down to weight and the last car had efficient dynamics. Could fill that up once a month sometimes and i drive a lot. Missing it now. Could gwt 70mpg on mway  :D

Hi Cricketfield. What did you go for in the end. Looking at the Merc equivalent to the BMW 5 series e. Its a diesel Hybrid but getting bad reports on Residual Values so Contract Hire rentals a lot higher than BMW. Loved the i Pace but dont think I can get this through the boss. Coming out of an A6 and hoping to get Benefit In Kind tax down but proving a strangely difficult process. Tried a Toyota CHR which I was thinking of doing over 2 years to give manufacturers time to sort themselves out but whilst I liked the styling I hated the drive. Now feels that I need to pursuade the business to let me have a more expensive car to save me tax!! First world problems I know but .......

First world problems indeed.

IPace nice in principle. But expensive and I just find charging an absolute ballache. Someone told me it 'only' takes 45 minutes. But I really cant be bothered with the aggrevation, especially when a lot of driving, like today is to places like Middlesbrough...

And the BIK Tax coming down is a false economy as the cars have a higher list price and are just overall less practical (right now anyway).

Opted for something a bit more practical and definitely more suitable for me. In grand scheme of things probably wont cost that much more and will definitely be perfect for pretty much everything I need. 7 seater diesel discovery sport. Unless LR reliability issues are true. Not had any issues with current car though which has the same engine.

Ok fair enough. Thanks for your input on this topic.
I've given up on electric/PHEV as well. If I'm going to pay the tax I might as well have the car I want. I inherited the A6 and I like it but I really dont need a big car as mostly its me and the missus. I have never had a BMW so I'm going to give the new 3 series a try and unless I really hate it I will try and get away with a 2 year deal and see where the lie of the land is then. Dont suppose anyone has looked at Lexus IS and ES? There is a tax saving to be had.

Had a 3 series for last 6 or 7 years. Great cars. Very economical. Comfortable. And the new one looks like the best one yet by some distance.

Theyd gone a bit boring for a while. But I was tempted to get the new one but need more space.

Only problem I ever had was it can be a bit **** in poor conditions. Mainly down to the rwd. But great cars overall. Especially on motorway drives. I once drove from Isle of Skye to burnley in one run and it was ridiculously comfortable.
