Bolton's keeper kit is too similar to the outfield players....

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this, football as it should be played. Blood and thunder, no amateur dramatics nor prima donas.

And surprisingly find myself routing for Stockport.

Yes he'll have caught the eye of a few with that display, and his energy levels against a team 2 levels above was particularly impressive.

So you wait 2/3 minutes for a new corner flag just for the whistle to be blown straight away, what was the point?

As it used to be and brought back many a fond memory.

None of today's top level sterile game on display tonight.

Proper footy.

Very strange but fuelled by their local journalist Steve Bellis and that nasty piece of work is now the club president.

Smashing game to watch after all the sterile stuff we have being served up with for years by PL clubs passing backwards more than forwards for years.

A word for the officials too, they didn't get everything right, however, they contributed to a smashing game of cup football and gave decisions as they saw it without the dreaded intervention of VAR. Smashing night for anyone who loves football as it should be played.

Like many of us older clarets really strange to find myself rooting for County. Brilliant game, passionate atmosphere, pitch invasion: that game had everything. However if County got past Rotherhan and drew us in the third round it would be tin hat time. Their hatred for us is off the scale and trouble would be inevitable.

We were/are a 'bigger' club than them. They'd spent most of their existence -certainly post war- more likely to worry about re-election than winning anything.
But we'd tailed right off. Sparse crowds. Dropped like a stone at a shocking rate. We seemed to end up playing them every other month too.
That coincided with them probably having the most successful period in their history.
They'd a decent side when we beat them a Wembley. Had a far better season than us but froze in London and, we outplayed them.
Plus, we'd also started getting Clarets back watching us again, taking big followings to smaller clubs.

It was a rivalry in their eyes far more than ours.
If this sounds patronising to them, it's not meant to.
Bit like us thinking we were as big as an Everton or Newcastle really though.
They've never had a big following or, ever been likely to reach any great heights.
What they have though, is passion, brought on by lean times, as we've seen tonight.
That's something we've both in common. :D

Since losing to us at Wembley it’s been downhill pretty much all the way to non league.

They went up the season afterwards and stayed there for 5-6 seasons. They even beat Man City at Championship level.

Carlton Palmer and a couple of others did them in but they were punching above their weight to be in that league.

That has to be one of the best FA Cup games iv seen in the past 5 years, it had everything, two goals in the first five mins, two combacks from 2-0 down and 3-1 down, then to make it 3-3 with five mins left, then the extra time and two more goals, that my friends is what the FA CUP is all about, congrats to Stockport County, and hard luck Bolton, lets hope we dont get them in the 3rd round.....only joking,......UTC. :D :D :D.
