Re: Article in today's Gaurdian
My only concern is purely how we can ever service the debt if/when we get relegated (which we almost will in the next few years, but don't return).

Re: Article in today's Gaurdian
The loan taken out last November is much more manageable from an interest perspective - just under £3m a year with fixed interest. Whether there are forced repayment obligations on relegation remains unknown
There is the prospect that the capital balance will have to be paid off at some point, who knows if that will, like the repayment of the monies loaned to CVHL occur under this ownership.
There was a credit facility taken out in the post season but we have no knowledge of what it covers or the terms by which it is bound - it may just be an overdraft facility.
It is possible that by the end of the transfer window that the greatest debt owed by the club is the transfer debt, and the hope/expectation is that the balance of that trading will lead us with saleable assets that cover those debts should the need arise

He may have misunderstood the Lancashire accent and gruff voice suggesting he “get off for a pie”. Maybe?forzagranata wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 2:03 pmSo someone in the Bob Lord Stand, that known bastion of hooliganism, charged up to the director's box and shouted "**** off and Die" at Pace but no-one noticed?

If we do a couple of years in the Prem, using this model of buy young and develop we will have some players worth an absolute fortune or have cashed a few in a long the way by that point.

Re: Article in today's Gaurdian
This is certainly the 'plan' as described, but a good proportion of those players will need to fulfill their potential. Besides which, returning a profit on player purchase/sales and indeed from just staying in the EPL and collecting the TV money doesn't automatically mean that what remains of the purchase debt will be paid down/off; that'll depend on what best suits the Owners/Directors best interests, rather than the club's... the two might not always/ever be quite the same.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 5:39 pmIf we do a couple of years in the Prem, using this model of buy young and develop we will have some players worth an absolute fortune or have cashed a few in a long the way by that point.

Lord Out! Jackson Out! Teasdale Out! It was ever thus. Don’t recall any mass protests outside the Bob Lord calling for Pace’s head.

The Guardian article this thread is about opens by providing a snippet from the documentary where someone tells him on camera that he was blamed for relegation.
Go back to May 2022 on here and you’ll find plenty of similar views. It wasn’t a majority view from memory, but there were a fair few who held him/ALK responsible.

every club has uneducated ill disciplined dickheads who would **** the bed if they were asked to move their family out of their town never mind across the world. It's shameful but not unexpected

But the documentary tells us of personal abuse, according to this article. Not opinions from a website he doesn't read.agreenwood wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 12:29 amThe Guardian article this thread is about opens by providing a snippet from the documentary where someone tells him on camera that he was blamed for relegation.

Let's hope it sticks to the truth more than Bank of Dave did.

This line from the Telegraph article is going to disappoint those who were expecting the documentary to be a Mormon ‘sportswash’ exercise.
‘ “Mission to Burnley” is a nod to the fact that the owners, including Pace, are all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – more commonly known as Mormons – although it is a shame their faith and how it is balanced with their roles in business and football is not really properly explored.’
Sounds like their religion doesn’t play a big part in the documentary.

I’ve no idea if people hurled abuse at him to his face, but it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility. Our fanbase booed one of our own players in a friendly in Belgium a few weeks ago.
I’d be surprised if anyone in the Bob Lord said those things to him, but not everyone in there is 85 years old. Is it possible that a few ****** up fans got carried away at the final whistle? Yes, it is.

But it says "mission" in the title, surely that is enough to pre-judge something and hammer it

Blackburn fans have picked up on Alan's quote of 'sticking one of their 5 fingers up at me walking down the street.'

Didn't a fan in the Bob Lord walk along the wall to shout at Kompany last season. I'm sure there was a thread about it.agreenwood wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 9:04 amI was responding to the comment that nobody blamed him for relegation. Some did.

Chester - purely speculative but do you think it’s likely that they intend to just service the debt, perhaps chip a little off and sell the club with said debt in years to come assuming the value of the club has risen as such?
