I tend to agree with Harper

Thought Koleosho looked excellent at times but his final ball was really really poor all game.

That’s a side of his game he needs to work on if he wants to get to odoberts level
Absolutely a huge side of his game to be worked on. I think some fans get really carried away by him but fingers crossed he develops.

Agree. Thought he tailed off second half but was a livewire in the first half.
Had the ball taken off him 7 times and his passing was wayward.

Too careless in possession for me but is great to have if teams are pushing on and there's space to exploit.

If he can develop that area of his game then he will be a gem.

Trafford 6

Roberts 6
Worrall 6
Esteve 8
Pires 6

Laurent 6 Good presence - poor on the ball
Brownhill 7
Hannibal 6

Koleosho 4 NOT a right winger.
Anthony 7 Bright
Foster 7

Sarmiento 6

I thought this was very much a case of too much turmoil and too many new players thrown into the team. Had we played them in October/November we would be talking about a very different result.

It was frustrating but, all in all, with everything that has happened over the last two weeks, I will take the draw and hope that the next two weeks in the international break will be beneficial.

Guess we know why VK wasn't too keen on Egan-Riley

Trafford - 5 Nearly cost us a goal in the 1st minute with poor distribution, and almost lobbed. Rovers knew he comes a long way out of goal and is slow to get back. They looked to lob him all game and scored with one such.
Roberts - 5 Moderate, slow in possession and no penetration with his passing.
Esteve - 8 Quick, composed and always looked to use the ball well
Worrall - 7 Slow, composed and always looked to use the ball well. Won a good few attacking headers early on
Pires - 6 At his best when attacking. His set pieces were usually poor.
Koleosho - 6 Fast and entertaining but no end product. booked for indiscipline (again) and that needs sorting.
Laurent - 7 Strong, good in the air in midfield - a decent performance.
Brownhill - 7 Lots of running, interceptions, one touches and splendid backheel to "assist" the assist. Shouldn't be taking free kicks though.
Anthony - 7 Carries the ball well and tricky. Lots of crosses and excellent ball in for the goal.
Hannibal - 6 Energetic and pressed well.
Foster - 6 Not convinced he's at his best when playing as the sole target man, but worked hard and gave the keeper no chance with his goal.

Benson 3 Don't usually rate the subs but Benson was poor in the very limited time he was on the pitch. Had quite enough of the ball, but failed to use it well. Free kick was abysmal and I recall another poor shot. Then limped off with us reduced to 10 and we didn't miss him.

Anthony 8 very lively

I didn't have a clue how we'd do today, it's been a busy couple of days.
As it was we had nothing to fear but ourselves.

Guilty again of overplaying it at the back. It didn't cost goals as in the prem, but we are wasting opportunities to get the ball behind them. We did it so well against Luton, and it's a part of the game we need to employ more. Despite being a far better team, we failed to work their keeper anywhere near enough. Wasteful final balls, and too many touches in their area, and I'm sick of seeing free kicks miss the target, unforgivable.

A work in progress so I'm not complaining, we have a hell of a squad, and picking a first XI out of it is a toughy, but we have everything in place to go straight back up.

Trafford 7 - what he had to do he did it well
Roberts 6 - playing that inverted role is a bit tricky
Pires 6 - a few good overlaps but looked a little overwhelmed in what could have been his biggest ever game
Worrall 7 - good leadership, like the way he spoke at length to Kolo after the yellow card
Esteve 7 - solid and didn’t offer them too much hope
Brownhill 7 - energy and drive which is what we need in the derby
Laurent 7 - better than I expected and did offer some physicality
Hannibal 8 - was all over the pitch and won plenty of headers, tackles and had a bit of skill about it
Kolesho 7 - very quick feet and got through the first couple of attackers a few times, his final delivery will come
Foster 7 - fantastic for him to get his goal, will do him the world of good, a player who needs to be loved
Anthony 7 - very good debut, a bit within himself but occasionally showed a few bits of skill that is promising, seems a quiet lad and I feel he’ll need to express himself a bit more, which will come, then opponents will get run ragged

I always find it a bit odd not to rate the subs when Sarmiento was on for 29 minutes including injury time, so I’ll just comment that he was neat and tidy with quick feet and looked promising and a likely one to unlock a packed defence (something we will find a lot this year at home). Benson put in a couple of decent balls to be fair, I’m amazed we let him and Josh take the free kicks considering the new players we have, no evidence from either they are good at that, and considering Benson is as fragile as a fine china vase I’d have taken the £9m rather than held out for £13m as rumoured (but maybe we chose not to strengthen Sunderland).

All in all, I’d have snatched hands off for this on Wednesday, a battling effort, with desire and character, not yet clicking but we look like teams will struggle to handle us, for sure.

Trafford 5 Slow distribution and IMO badly positioned for their goal
Roberts 4 Weak passing and not looking for a positive pass just sideways backwards whatever is the easiest
Worrall 5 okay but his lack of pase is a backward step defensively
Esteve 7 sound
Pires 5 better going forward than defensively
Laurent 7 should never have been hooked
Brownhill 4 sorry Josh didn`t really offer anything creatively and please stay away from dead ball situations
Koleosho 6 Huffed and puffed but needs a better end result
Hannibal 6 had a presence in midfield which we have needed but just calm down a bit at times
Anthony 7 Had the beating of the defenders but the final ball other than the goal needed to be better
Foster 7 Scored a good header, worked hard but not a number 9 as he doesn`t hold the ball up well enough and as for the fancy flicks leave em out

Sarmiento 6 needs time with the team burt you can see his class
Egan-Riley 4 Don`t really know what happened but he caused us more problems than they did
Benson 5 we know what he can do, hopefully stays and shows us, needs to up his pain threshold, bit of a fairy physically
JRod 5 nothing to say really, just hoped for a fairytale ending but not to be

Will take the point because on Wednesday couldn`t see us getting a point but play this match in two months and I think we win, I presume Rovers are playing premier league football next year because their celebrations at full time for an away draw seemed OTT but bless em they don`t get much to shout about. From TV.

Trafford 6 Recovered from a typical error to be pretty steady but not overworked.

Roberts 6 Did OK and got forward a bit more in the second half.

Esteve 7 Got lucky with their disallowed goal. Gueye was right, he should have got a yellow for that foul.

Worral 6 Finding his feet I hope because I wasn’t that impressed.

Pires 5 He looks good at times but his corners were poor.

Koleosho 5 An extra one for his hard work. I should be kinder after all he’s been through and puts in the effort but offers so little (Benson put in more crosses and shots in his ten minutes). Got bashed about by Beck (not sure why Beck didn’t get at least a yellow for all that plus his two clinical fouls near the end).

Laurent 7 (MoM) - Steady performance. He just seemed to fit in although I thought he got caught out when Weimann got so much space for that goal (and what a goal it was!).

Brownhill 7 His usual effort and some nice flicks although needs shooting practice.

Anthony 6 Great effort for the goal but after that our crossing wasn’t so good. A good start though.

Hannibal 6 Worked alright but he looks like he’s going to stack up those yellows unless he’s kept under control.

Foster 7 Worked hard enough. Good header to where the goalkeeper had been from a perfect cross - where was Blackburn’s defence? Hit the post too. As someone else mentioned he should restrain from those ‘clever’ flicks as they rarely achieve anything. But what a dickhead with his feigning of injuries.

Sub:

Sarmiento 5 Hardly noticed him

A game of two halves. The first half was enjoyable on the whole. I thought we edged it but didn’t look too much like adding to the early neat goal. The second half was horrible, disrupted by shenanigans from both teams, feigning injury from nothing challenges etc.. Pathetic. Both sets of players should be ashamed but they won’t be. It’s all in a days work.

Overall we looked pretty ordinary - just another Championship side and a real downgrade from the Luton performance. Of course I realise the situation Parker is in and we will just have to be patient. A draw is OK but we got lucky.

A difficult one to rate. A lot of m'eh performances, but that was bound to be the case given the team was thrown together this week. We'll be a different beast once this lot have had a few weeks together and we have Cullen back.

Trafford 6 - still looks like an accident waiting to happen, but made a couple of decent saves
Roberts 6 - not really in the game going forward
Pires 6 - ok, but his corners and crossing in general was abysmal
Worrall 6 - some good, some not so good. He'll be great when he's match fit
Esteve 7 - he's a class above
Laurent 7 - MoM - looks a handy lad
Brownhill 6 - steady
Hannibal 6 - not involved enough on the ball but he'll grow into the season
Anthony 6 - a handful. Lovely ball for the goal, but we didn't use him enough in my opinion
Luca 6 - bright in parts, but ultimately no end product
Lyle 6 - gets an extra mark for the goal. I really don't like it when he comes deep or wide for the ball. I still don't think he's the man we need for this league.

Sarmiento 6 - we didn't get the ball to him enough, but his first thought was positive every time he got the ball. He will be a big player for us IMO.
Benson 4 - one trick pony, awful
Jay 4 - did he touch the ball?
Egan-Riley 3 - an absolute calamity of a cameo. I think I've seen enough of him now, certainly a CB!

For a team thrown together two days before the match I can’t complain especially as their equaliser was a worldy. Must admit I was fearful before the kick off so in a way this was a point gained

Trafford 7 - thought he could’ve moved the ball a bit quicker on occasion. No chance with the goal.
Roberts 6 - need to see more going forward.
Worrall 7 - obviously a leader
Esteve 7 - quality when needed
Pires 5 - first touch needs improving
Anthony 7 - quality assist but little pace
Hannibal 7 - got an engine hasn’t he?
Brownhill 8 - dictated the pace. Helps when other leaders are on the pitch with him
Laurent 8 - MOTM
Koleosho 6 - flashes of brilliance, little end product
Foster 6 - stay up front. Good finish.

Sarmiento 6 - played out of position?
Benson 4 - one trick pony, injured again
CJER 4 - poor
Jay 4 - did he touch the ball?

Trafford 7 - solid and distributed well
Roberts 6 - he isn't of the level we need, lacks athleticism massively.
Worrall 6 - he was OK but I must say I'd probably take any of our Championship winning centre backs from 2 years ago over him. He's slower than Ekdal and worse on the ball also.
Esteve 9 - best in the league
Pires 6 - thought he did ok
Anthony 7 - the reviews I read were correct, he's lacking in pace. Touch was excellent though and cross for the goal was good.
Hannibal 6 - set the tone with his pressing, not sure what else he did
Brownhill 8 - excellent first half hour, faded slightly. Showed leadership having a go at Koleosho to ensure he didn't get himself sent off
Laurent 4 - slow, languid, doesn't want to head the ball and doesn't drop into positions we need him to to receive the ball. He needs to watch videos of Berge, Defour and Cork.
Koleosho 5 - Too rushed, doesn't know how to beat players from the right, needs to play from the left.
Foster 7 - played quite well but I'm not sure about the tactic of firing it into him all the time and hoping he flicks it into the path of a runner. It didn't seem very effective

Sarmiento 5 - hardly saw him
Benson 5 - I've rarely seen a player with the ability to completely dominate the flow of a game like he does. It's incredible. Unfortunately he was mashalled wlel today and obviously went off injured as soon as he got tackled.
CJER 3 - I'm not sure he could have been much worse
Jay 5 - never in it

Quite happy with a point after all the upheaval of the last few weeks. Thought we were really good in the first half, new signings looked promising.

Trafford 6
Roberts 7
Worrall 6
Esteve 7
Pires 6
Laurent 7
Brownhill 7
Koleosho 7
Hannibal 7
Anthony 7.5 mom
Foster 7

Looking forward to this team learning to play with each other, and getting Flemming, Cullen, Beyer, Ekdal and others back from injury.

My main concern is how we re going to replace Tella's goals from a few years ago.

Trafford 7 - absolutely no chance with goal and one top save

Roberts 6 - decent enough
Worrall 6 - a little rusty but think he will be a good signing
Esteve 7 - he’s a cut above at this level
Pires 6 - some good, some not so good

Laurent 8* - calm, collected, an actual physical presence - thought he looked really good
Brownhill 7 - good game
Hannibal 6 - some nice touches but looked nowhere near full fitness

Anthony 7 - good debut, tidy
Foster 5 - may get criticism for that but goal aside I thought he was woeful. Needs to hold the ball up instead of looking for a 1 in 50 flick all the time
Koleosho 7 - - had the full back on toast and then we stopped giving it him. Needs more end product

Start of game I’d have taken a point. There were times in the game when our midfield 3 looked like they had only just met - which is exactly what they are. They scored a worldy that stopped us in our tracks some promising signs - though we desperately need a striker imo

Trafford 6
Roberts 6
Worrall 6- struggled with the big man who caused us issues
Esteve 7- quality
Pires 6
Laurent 6
Brownhill 6 at fault for there goal a tad let Weimann run off him caught ball watching - great flick in the build up to our goal.
Koleosho 6- flashes
Hannibal 6 needs to be playing more as a 8 - great engine better on the all from deeper
Anthony 7
Foster 7

Overall

New team and it shows - lack of movement / rotation mainly in midfield makes us predictable at the minute but we will improve - building blocks are there for sure.

Could see a midfield 3 of Cullen Hannibal and Flemming as the 10 long term.

Early days yet for this group we will be fine

Trafford 6 - almost got lobbed twice while a dodgy clearance also nearly cost us a goal, made good save from their no 10 though
Roberts 6 - ok but his passing is too slow and laboured
Worrall 6 - clearly a leader but a bit slow and thought he struggled a bit in the air against their number 9 until he was sent off
Esteve 8 - our best defender
Pires 6 - makes me nervous but did well for the goal
Laurent 6 - gave us more physicality in midfield but average ability
Brownhill 7 - good energy and excellent flick on for goal but please don’t let him take anymore free kicks
Hannibal 7 - great energy and closing down but didn’t really create much
Koleosho 7 - great energy and pace but lacked a bit of composure and end product
Anthony 8 - looked composed and good assist for goal, need to get the ball to him more often
Foster 7 - +1 for good goal but I find him so frustrating to watch

Egan-Riley 3 - only on for a short time against 10 men yet still managed to gift three good goal scoring opportunities away
Sarmiento 7 - looked to have good energy and movement
Benson 5 - a shadow of the player we saw last time in the Championship and no surprise he got injured (again)
Jay 5 - didn’t do much

Benson, in my opinion, should never pull on a Burnley shirt again. Wasn't trying to help the team, and then pulling up like that, well, it was obvious what Scott P and his teammates thought about it as, generally, when a player goes down some of the others go to them to offer support - but no-one did!

Trafford 7 - Had no chance with the goal. His positioning was OK. A great save 1 on 1. Not much else to do.
Roberts 6 - OK.
Worrall 6 - Won virtually every header. The one he didn't, led to the goal but others weren't perfect in their roles for it.
Esteve 7 (MOM) - Probably our best player. Hope his hamstring is ready after the break.
Pires 6 - Comes in for criticism but he wasn't beaten often and looked good going forward.
Laurent 7 - I thought he played quite well. Strong. Retained possession quite well. A few nice passes.
Brownhill 7 - Usual stuff. Mostly good. Glad he didn't leave but I wish his fk taking had improved.
Hannibal 7 - I think he is exactly what we needed. Lot's of energy. A red card waiting to happen but I like him.
Koleosho 6 - Still very raw. Tricky and lively without much end product.
Anthony 7 - Superb delivery for the goal. Went a little quiet but lots of talent and will do well in this division.
Foster 7 - Good and bad but his goal was very well finished.

Egan-Riley 5 - I might have been generous. 2 major mistakes in his short run out. He recovered really well from the 1st.
Sarmiento 6 - He will be good to watch in this league. Nice touches and lively.
Benson 5 - Looking to cut inside every run. Was only on for 10 mins and got injured. 9m from DL would have been great!
Jay 5 - Can barely remember him touching it.

A very different outfit compared with the Luton and Cardiff games.
The transfer window actually did a lot to sort out problems from last season.
We recognised we needed character that was released after the championship year and we appear to have addressed it.

Now have a few weeks to try to start building a team at Gawthorpe. The VK team 2 years ago took time too.

Koleosho 7

Anthony 7
Sarmiento 6

Benson, Rodriguez & Egan Riley 9 between them
There’s no way Egan Riley was worth a 7!!

Trafford 6
Roberts 5 dallied in the ball too many times for my liking
Worrall 6 miscommunication with whoever for the knockdown
Esteve 7
Pires 6 has potential
Laurent 6 decent enough debut
Hannibal 6 wanted more from him but he’s new and will improve
Brownhill 7 loved the back heel , terrible set piece taker
Koleosho 4 struggled to beat his man on the outside, lost his head too collecting a card.
Anthony 8 great debut, great cross , lively and never gave up
Foster 6 good header but the first touch is usually way off it. Need to spend more time in the box for me too

Only caught the second half so can’t leave ratings

But I did see Benson spent his entire cameo trying to engineer a shot that was never on, he’s bought into his own legend 😂 needs to play for the team not his ego

Trafford 6 - nearly a very costly error in the first minute, but made a good save in the second half.
Roberts 6 - fine
Worrall 4 - very slow, poor on the ball (his error led to Esteve's strain), and it was his error that led to their goal. I'm concerned if this is him, but I'm told he was unfit. Let's hope there's better to come.
Esteve 7 - cleared up with ease
Pires 5 - some good passing, some really poor stuff on the ball as well.
Laurent 6 - put himself about and got some cracking challenges in, but his passing was found wanting too often
Brownhill 6 - brilliant backheel that led to our goal, but we desperately needed someone to start dictating play when they went down to 10 and he couldn't ever manage that
Koleosho 7 - scared their left back to death, and he was full of energy in attack and when pressing. Nothing dangerous ever came of his runs though.
Hannibal 6 - pressed like a lunatic and set the tone for a good first half, but his quality on the ball was disappointing
Anthony 7 - a good debut and an excellent assist
Foster 6 - pleased to see him off the mark, but bloody hell fire we need better hold up play from him. Sick to the back teeth of him trying to flick it instead of grabbing hold of it, and his antics rolling around 10 times are absolutely pathetic

I'm not sure what I was expecting but I was really encouraged with our first half performance. The pressing was exemplary and attacked very well. It's a shame their worldie came because of how new our team is, because Laurent and Worrall went up for the same ball, leaving Wiemann free to hit it.

Second half was disappointing where too many of our players showed really poor technique on too many occasions. We looked very mid-table. Hopefully the international break will allow Parker to work on some clear patterns of play and decide upon his preferred starting eleven.

Edit timed out, but I meant to give Worrall a 5 not a 4.

Trafford 7
Roberts 6
Worrall 7
Esteve 8
Laurent 7
Brownhill 7
Koleosho 7
Hannibal 7
Anthony 8*
Foster 7

Sarmiento 6
Egan-Riley 3
Benson 4
JRod 5

To say that was pretty much a cobbled together at short notice line up I thought it was a very good performance overall and one that will develop and has a lot more promise to grow than that lot down the road!

Based on the upheaval of the last two weeks I was happy enough with that. We were the better team but they scored a cracker and defended well. Plenty of positives and plenty to work on in the attacking end of the pitch.

Trafford 6 always feel there is a mistake in him but did ok
Roberts 6
Worral 6 think he’ll improve with fitness and game time
Esteve 7
Pires 7
Laurent 7 did well on debut
Brownhill 7
Koleosho 7
Hannibal 6
Anthony 7 another good debut
Foster 7

Subs
Saramiento 6
Egan Riley 5 could have cost us
Rodriguez 5 doesn’t offer much
Benson 5

Trafford 7 I want him to do well but he just doesn't instill confidence.
Roberts 6
Pirez. 7 I like him
Worrall 5 As mentioned above he sold Esteve short which resulted in him pulling his hamstring, could be out for a while with that !
Esteve 7 fine untill....!
Laurent 7 very pleasantly surprised with this guy
Brownhill 6 Terrible waste of free-kicks
Koleosho 7 thought he did well, they were obviously terrified and doubled up on him
Hannibal 7 played well think he'll be a great addition
Anthony 8 Very impressed
Foster 7 scored or it would have been a six, there's a player in there.

The sh**housing by b'turds was disgusting and not just the players their manager and his assistants were also constantly in the ear of the fourth official, pathetic !

2 comments. Kolo on the wrong wing again. Should have swopped him and Anthony at half time.

I am absolutely sure that CJER is not good enough for this league. He's far too small for a cb. Why put him on instead of Humps the perfect replacement for Steve.

CJER is 6 foot tall and only 21 years old. I take it you don't remember Franco Baresi, Fabio Cannavaro or Ivan Cordoba.

I know you'd argue with your reflection in a mirror but surely you don't disagree that he's not good enough at CB for us?

I think its u fair people giving Laurent low scores like 5/6.
Hes only at club couple days. Maybe 1 training session.
Debut against Blackburn. Come on give the guy a break. He had a very good debut.

I agree. He's got a good range of passing too, I thought.

Also seen a few say Benson was just trying to get it onto his left for the same shot, but plenty of times he went on the outside and got a decent cross in with his right.

The wrongly disallowed goal. We didn't look like we could recover from that although who knows.

I think Laurent will get low marks on here as posters on the Oatcake message board didn’t rate him and that’s enough to influence some UTC posters to not rate / like him, even without seeing him kicking a ball.
