Sorry just messing, I don’t get the issue with what they said about the shirts if I am honest they liked them which they are entitled to do, some of there comments about them were over the top though. Anyway I disagreed with what was said I thought all the tops were just a bit meh although I did buy the home 1 but I couldn’t get wound up over someone’s opinion on social media.

Did anyone kick up such a stink when these replaced the badge on the shirt?

And there isn't even any suggestion that this 'B' will even be on the shirt.
As CT said + it's cheap, looks very gimmicky and sanitises our brand.
We aren't a run of the mill, plastic, non-entity of a football club, nor a frigging franchise.
Re: Cryptic tweet on Twitter
If they changed the shirt to blue body and white sleeves, would it be still "the shirt in essence"? Colours, whether you like them are not, are an integral part of the badge.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 8:26 amThe badge hasn't been removed though, has it? It's still the "monochrome one" is still the badge in essence. I prefer it to be honest, looks much more stylish. I can understand why folk are getting upset over 15 years of tradition being flushed down the toilet though.

And it is not our club badge - it's something the chairman and his fellow directors wear on their caps and that's where it should stay.

Re: Cryptic tweet on Twitter
What a ridiculous analogy, the design of the badge and with it, the symbolism is the same.
Bearing in mind the design of our badge is predominently those famous Burnley colours of yellow & black, it could be argued it has no connection to the team.
Anyway, this is an opinion thing and mine, like yours won't change so best to leave it there.

Sorry, I'm confused.
Are we talking about the badge itself disappearing or just the fact it's been rebranded and the colour has changed?

I may be in the minority but I prefer the monochrome on the kit and training gear, find it very nice aesthically and clean.
I personally don't think it's about getting away from our club badge just trying to being modern, all companies and business go through these phases, but yes, we shouldn't get away fully from our roots and keep the clunky version in visible places to retain the past

We played in green from 1900-1910. Shall we keep that part of history? Where's the line?
I guess it's from when people who are still living's favourite memories of the club. Everything changes.

You could argue, in fact, it is closer to the 1935 badge. How is that not being traditional?

I honestly don't see what the fuss is about, every company and business rebrands and modernises over time it's called evolution. As for the "B" that style of writing has been used in the word "Burnley" on the official website for a while now, I'm surprised no one has mentioned it already.

We’ve only ever had two official club badges. The first was from 1973 to 2010 and the current one from 2010.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 1:07 pmWouldn't even be the 1st time though. Each person will have their opinions but hey, i'm not fussed personally.

The club recognising it as such. In 1973 the club explained they were creating its first club badge. This was to allow us to have exclusive use of a badge which we could copyright.
In 2010, rightly or wrongly, we switched to the current one.

Re: Cryptic tweet on Twitter
I’m not against the monochrome badges. I think that they tend to work better, the colour being changed to suit the shirts or background that they are being used on.
It’s only a font I suppose, but I really don’t like the one that they’ve been pushing for the last season and more - it hardly strikes me as something modern, original or standout in a world where branding, marketing and advertising seems to be the be all and end all.

I could be wrong, but there seemed to be far less complaining about a complete change of badge under Kilby in 2010 than the monochrome change under the current owners (not just on here I hasten to add, social media too).

Re: Cryptic tweet on Twitter
The 2009/10 change was for the 50th anniversary of Championship win and was only meant to be for that season. It just happened to coincide to when we got our most exposure, by playing in the Premier League.
The club decided that as that was the badge that the world would recognise, they would stick with it (just changing the Latin with Burnley Football Club)
But I agree, nobody seemed to be bothered then.
