There's never a 'must win' game this early in the season - however a good win would keep us in touch with a 'break-away' top four.

I was wondering the same thing that Sarmiento could be that missing spark with a wandering role behind a front two.. would definitely give us a more attacking dimension and he seems comfortable with both feet
Definitely sounded to me that was what he was hinting. I’d like to see that with Browny and Hannibal holding and Flemming up top.

Can't help but actually like the bloke and with that I really want him to be a success and to build a team we can relate to, but I don't half wish the scripted interview questions could be binned and a cheeky fan snook in and asked the questions we all want to ask............yeah I know if Carlsberg 😁
Interesting point this… was only thinking the same today.

By the sounds of things they have two interviewers there now: BBC Lancs and Burnley Express.

What a dire state. There used to be a guy from BBC there? And the Athletic I think? And Sky?

Seems when they’re no longer interested it’s basically an empty room. It must feel a pretty pointless to Parker. Why don’t they let some of the Burnley fan sites like UTC have a presence at these? Parker doesn’t seem one to dodge the tough questions and it’d drive a lot more interest in the pressers.

Seems to be blaming everyone, and everything but himself

There is certainly an element of truth in what he inherited but he has brought in some of his "own" players and decides the tactics
All about perspective I suppose, but saying he got to sign "some of his own players" feels like a push. Accepted he knows Anthony from Bournemouth, but other signings felt like Matt Williams desperately on the phone trying to get bodies in so we had a squad to compete.

Nb. Nothing against ANY of the players signed but that is how it seemed to me. Flemming we had been after previously. Josh Laurent - seems to be working well but came straight out of left field. Sarmiento - I think we fell (very) lucky getting him, clearly a talented player.

Interesting press conference. Clearly we have shipped a good number of bad eggs. Will be interesting to see the reaction tomorrow night.

good and honest interview. we all try to read between the lines with these things, but i thought that was a decent appraisal of where we are. well done Scotty, keep going, we will reap the rewards soon enough.

I think something that needs noting from this particular presser is that he made it very clear that everyone here now wants to play for Burnley FC and be successful with us

He also made it very clear that it wasn't the case in fact 'the complete opposite' when he came in...

The man has been given a very tough hand and although we need to get the ball in the back of the net I do believe he's dedicated and I think he will get there

UTC
Nothing unusual with that though. The club had just been relegated with a manager who had left who signed most of them it'd be highly unusual for them to want to stay. Regarding the hand he's been given he knew exactly what he was getting himself into before he agreed to the job. None of this as happened overnight.

I also think the players coming off at full time against QPR hearing booing isn't going to help things going forward , it's a two way thing support the players and hopefully they will try a lot better than at Millwall. UTC...

I almost got the feeling that he'd been reading this board. He answered a lot of the criticisms raised on here. From team selection to creating more chances to overlapping fullbacks. He clearly has a way of doing things and he wanted to build the "framework" first (not his words, borrowed them from some ginger bloke) not a million miles away from the first 12 games under VK where some questioned his obsession with possession for possessions sake. Clean sheets win you leagues not scoring goals, can't remember who said that but SP clearly believes it and since the beginning he's said the character of the team will show when we hit a bump in the road. Millwall have just beaten Leeds for a 4th consecutive 1-0 win, they're a point behind us and Leeds a point above us. A win tonight and we're 2 points off the top 2 with almost a third of the season gone. I'd have taken that at the start of the season.

Very frank interview. He knows a lot more than us and is trying to rectify the goal scoring situation. Give him and the lads all the encouragement they need. Seems like we have shipped the bad eggs on and now is the time to support the loyal ones who stayed and the new intake of players.

I have a feeling Tresor might feature within the next couple of squads.
