Has it been announced that we're not getting season cards for the first three games?

Digital Ticketing
A review of ticketing options will start with digital-only entry for the opening three home fixtures, after which supporter feedback will determine whether physical tickets are reinstated.

Last season you could just download from the e-ticketing website:

No need for the app.

Why not do the reverse and have a blitz marketing campaign on using digital tickets with videos, FAQs etc and see how many people voluntarily use digital for the 1st 3 games, and THEN decide

It would be a lot easier if you could just download the ST into your wallet the once and so it’s always there to use, just like your bank or Tesco card

There was mention last season that all premier league clubs had to be digital entry this season, I don't know if that's still the caseAwayfromburnley wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 6:54 amThere is literally only one outcome to this. We all know it for the aforementioned reasons.

Many clubs already have digital only entry, and it works fine, those who went to Preston last season twice will have used it. I remember hypothetical questions before the game and what if's, but didn't see problems at the ground, or any mention of problems elsewhere afterwards.
Re: Season Tickets
Last season you did have to download individual games. If they switch to digital only, you'd hope you would be able to download once for the whole season, as you say. Especially if someone will also be managing the proces for other people e.g. a child and/or older person.

To me a ST card is still digital as it needs to be scanned, just like some people can still have physical boarding cards at airports that need to be scanned as well as those that use the “digital” ones on phones

Re: Season Tickets
If the first three games are digital what about those who don't have a mobile phone and wouldn't know how to use one, especially some elderly people who might be on their own?
Has it been mentioned that tickets are available from the office before a game in those instances?

No business or organisation could survive by not moving forward because it doesn't fit with a very small minority.
The aim will be to make sure there is an alternative to those who don't have a phone and don't attend with someone who has.
All other venues which are digital only, for example the co op arena, provides paper tickets at the ticket office for those without phones.

Re: Season Tickets
With reference to my original post , and with all due respect to fellow posters my query was are the club issuing Season Tickets or is it the usual last minute route the club always seem to take with supporters wondering if its going to arrive.
All the discussion on here about doing it digitally just takes away the failure of the club or the ticket office whoever you want to lay the blame with ,is that every year the announcement for renewal comes out earlier and earlier and still they cant get the situation right given they have extra time to do the task .
I myself am in the older bracket but am quite capable of downloading if I need too .but the usual quiet acceptance of the club not being able to carry out and complete the most basic and I might argue the most important job they have , looking after their core supporters is going further and further back with this again repeated debacle .
I dont give a monkeys where the team comes out or where the away supporters disembark .
Its time for a basic root and branch examination of core jobs at the club ,tickets ,food , the list goes on and on

If you touch the share icon it will say 'Your QR Code Will Be Available Soon '
I can't screenshot an example for obvious reasons.
Re: Season Tickets
That depends how you define "moving forward". At present, there is a choice between digital tickets, print at home tickets, or season ticket cards. Is removing one or two of those choices really "progress"? Seems more like "regress" to me.Row x wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 9:00 amHow many are we talking about?

One of the beauties of the internet ought to be that it increases your options - not reduces them.
Re: Season Tickets
I'm in the old age stage and to be honest I've never downloaded a ticket and prefer a TC as previous years, I've only just got over not having a book!
They should have informed fans when they were buying their tickets not two weeks before the season starts.
Blackpool I believe have gone to digital this season but have said that if you prefer a season ticket card you can get one at the ticket office but there will be a £20 charge.
Clubs don't value the fans anymore unfortunately.

Re: Season Tickets
Not against going digital - firstly it’s the right thing to do environmentally and secondly it should in reduce all the many issues we have had in the last few years with non delivery of tickets through the post.
But given the clubs track record in anything to do with ticketing or technology there should definitely be consideration given to some alternative and for those for whatever reason cannot use digital tickets. At least with this the club would establish an idea of how many supporters would be impacted by this and develop some kind of plan to deal with it for next season.

Complete disregard for supporters.
Re: Season Tickets
Not sure about the "right thing to do environmentally". I don't know how much power is used in sending out emails and etickets and all the rest, and in storing the data in perpetuity; but it must be more than the amount of power involved in re-using a season ticket that you already have.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 10:49 amNot against going digital - firstly it’s the right thing to do environmentally and secondly it should in reduce all the many issues we have had in the last few years with non delivery of tickets through the post.

Even if they want new plastic cards every year, I doubt the environmental impact would be worse.

Re: Season Tickets
Is there any way around this other than having to show the code on your phone? Can you print anything out in advance?
Clearly it isn’t going to work as there is virtually no internet access once the main bulk of fans arrive as the masts can’t cope.
Ticketmaster made the ticketing system a disaster last season and this can only make things a lot worse

Thanks - so just need to transfer the tickets from the app to the wallet before the game
It also needs to be made clear that this doesn’t affect the whole ground - if you’re in the Longside stand you will use the new season ticket as usual

Where has it been said about the Longside?
Re: Season Tickets
I think the idea is that they believe they need to know exactly who is sitting where. Lord knows why.
The problem (or one of them) comes when someone can't go at the last minute. If, for example, Mr Smith plans to take his children to the game but can't go, the Premier League (and clubs like Brighton) think it is better that the children miss the game than that they go with a different adult.

Re: Season Tickets
Well you still need to store the data etc if you are using paper or plastic tickets but without getting this debate off track it’s widely regarded amongst pretty much every company that transitioning from physical (paper or plastic) tickets or communications to digital is better for the environment (and many use this as evidence to hit various targets and regulations in their sectors).dsr wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 10:53 amNot sure about the "right thing to do environmentally". And of course if done correctly it can also save the company a lot of money. It’s been literally billions of pounds in the banking sector for example from the transition to paperless statements in the last decade. Councils are moving this way too. And when they produce their annual sustainability type reports they will reference savings in carbon front print etc from the reduction in physical comms or tickets
Re: Season Tickets
So you are saying that it only applies to the Barnfield Stand and everyone else will get a new ticket card in the next two weeks?
That wasn't made very clear although it could just be my age again and read it incorrectly
All the same it is very poor to leave it until the 4th of August to tell fans where they have been moved to or moved at all to be honest
The facilities might be improved but you can see this being a shambles

Of course, another problem is that the ticket office is already likely to be inundated with calls from people asking about ticket problems caused by failed direct debits. To add to that, they can be inundated with calls asking where their ticket cards are!
Re: Season Tickets
Ps I didn't know my phone had a wallet never mind be able to download and transfer into it
Re: Season Tickets
At Brighton they don't allow that. It can only go to someone who is already a member, there is a £20 fee if you do it twice in a season, and it has to be done the day before.
Of course, Brighton has a (small) waiting list so they think they can discourage pensioners and children in favour of selling more adult seats. Very short sighted IMO.
Re: Season Tickets
The ticket holder would simply transfer the ticket from their account to the other adult's account, with the transaction taking seconds.dsr wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 11:42 amI think the idea is that they believe they need to know exactly who is sitting where. Lord knows why.

Re: Season Tickets
And suddenly Mr and Mrs Smith don't need just one smartphone, they need two.
Paint it how you want, making tickets digital-only is not an improvement on making them digital or plastic choice. Giving someone a plastic card is the easiest possible way of transferring a ticket; other ways can be extra, but not instead of.

Some on here are just making problems up, which will never happen, still it allows them a dig at the club, so alls well in their world

Why don't they have two smartphones between them?
Are they absolute luddites? How would she get to the ground, would she take the omnibus or flag down a passing coachman? Would the children be available or would they be needed up some chimneys somewhere?
In fact how old are these children and how old are their parents?
How about this scenario...Mr Smith has been at work in the morning, however the road back home is closed and he's not going to make he match. The plastic card is in his wallet, which is on his person.
How would Mrs Smith take their children to the match in this case?
Under the modern, 21st century way, he can instead assign the digital ticket to her and she can take the kids. Far simpler than your proposal.

Re: Season Tickets
What is a genuine problem though? It differs from one person to another how much of a problem something might be.
Digital access only - no problem whatsoever for me, I use them for away games. The only problem I have is ordering five tickets for the Lazio game and receiving three immediately while still awaiting the other two.
But I’ve spoken to someone on the phone this morning for whom it is a major problem because he now thinks there is a possibility that he and his wife might not be able to attend despite buying season tickets.
The answer is to never make light of someone’s problem just because you don’t see it as one.
Re: Season Tickets
I don't know a single person in the real world who doesn't have a phone. I'm sure they exist, but not enough to be a consideration for moving to digital only tickets.

It must get tiring being the resident contrarian, surely.
Anyway, the Premier League always stated that there would be an old fashioned back-up in extreme circumstances. That was discussed on here at the time and the same argument was had.

We already have a perfectly adequate backup system for people who don't want or haven't got smartphones. We don't need a new solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
