For those who remember the programme shop on Yorkshire Street
It was a popular venue for programme collectors in the 1980s. Initially where Kings Taxis is now, it then moved upstairs when it got too busy for the small shop downstairs. The shop was run by Tom & Christine Gill both of whom were excellent supporters club committee members at the time.
I have to report, sadly, that Christine passed away earlier this week. She was a similar age to myself, mid 60s. My thoughts are with Tom and their daugter Nicolette.

Can't recall the owners, but i think I do remember the shop.
Didn't they also sell Subbuteo player sets? Think i bought a c&b team there!
Might be on the wrong shop, actually.
RIP

Remember selling all the home programmes from Manchester City's title winning season 1967/68 a gift from my City supporting Grandfather. I needed the cash for the train to Sheffield Wednesday FA Cup replay in 1983. Got not alot for them, probably worth a mint now.
RIP UTC.

So sad. I knew Tom and Christine from the shop and Tom got my programmes until 2 or 3 years ago so I knew them both well. Both true Clarets and their knowledge of and support for Burnley was great. RIP Christine.

Went to the funeral yesterday and the Clarets got more than a mention. You are right The Wudster, both big supporters of the club although Tom's not been able to go for a while because of Christine's ill health. The Wudster wrote:So sad. Re: For those who remember the programme shop on Yorkshire Street
Wow. I started the football programme business with Tom and Christine prior to them having the shop on Yorkshire St. It was a big part of my life at that time. We had a prog list that went to collectors all over the world and Christine used to basically take the orders and mail the progs all over the world. I used to go to there house in Rosegrove every morning. Cant believe she has passed away. I am deeply shocked RIP Christine

She's not been well for some time but remained as cheerful as she always was. I'd forgotten you were involved with them originally but you were mentioned yesterday when I spoke to Tom.FCBurnley wrote:Wow. Oh how sad. I didn't know Christine but did meet Tom a couple of times, as I used to work as a care assistant for his mother and father when they were managing Firgrove Old Persons Home.
Lovely people. Rip

Re: For those who remember the programme shop on Yorkshire Street
I did something similar with my collection including some quite difficult to get hold of Fairs Cup away games. I regretted it almost immediately.Stevebfc40 wrote:Remember selling all the home programmes from Manchester City's title winning season 1967/68 a gift from my City supporting Grandfather. Luckily, I've managed to re-collect most of the programmes I consider to be the most important in our history.

I remember Malcoim Moss very well. He went with us to Stuttgart for the ICFC game in 66. He is on the photo which CT has published on here in the past. Think his nickname was Timekeeper but I never knew why ? Also remember that Tom Gill and I bought a number of 1930`s full season Burnley bound volumes. These contained all first and reserve team games for the whole season.Paid him a small fortune but well worth it.LordBob wrote:I remember the shop, I was an avid collector sold most of them now, does anyone remember Malcolm Moss, I,M BACKING BURNLEY he was all over the Sunday People newspaper with his programmes collection.
CT. Next time you meet Tom please give him my condolences and my best wishes Thanks

Re: Malcolm Moss. I knew him as Keeper, didn't realise it was an abbreviation of Timekeeper. He still goes on the Turf and to a lot of away games. He has a season ticket in the Longside Upper.
Re: For those who remember the programme shop on Yorkshire Street
I think Malcom Moss may have got the nickname timekeeper from the days when he hired coaches for us supporters to travel to away matches, from the very small (at the time) Fraser Motors, later to become Fraser Eagle. He was always looking at his watch eager for people to be on time, so we could set off on time. If I remember rightly his only payment was, free travel for doing it.
The keeper name changed from the time he played in goal for the Red Wasps in the Sunday League and in friendlies we played in as far away as Southampton and his shouting keepers, when he went for a ball. Malcom for his size was a good goalkeeper. Like Tom Heaton he never stopped shouting/talking in a game. Trouble with him was he's like that off the field as well. Malcom, if your reading this I mean it in a nice sort of way. To FCBurnley who was our manager, I've still got team photos with you on from those days.
