It's pretty clear from the choice of photos (2 town centre under construction except they edit out the barriers to give the impression that's what it always looks like, one of the worst house in Burnley, one of wasteland with demolished terraces) that the whole article about "What a boghole the north of England is, don't make me go back there again Mr. Editor". The photos of Sheringham are of a nice seaside town, the photos of Burnley are designed to make you prefer Beirut.

Birtwistle doesn't sound to have much in common with the LibDems or its leader Farron, not surprising as he seeks election in a town that voted 70% in favour of Brexit. He's in the wrong party this time round.
