Excellent porcher of a player wish we still had him
playing really well and could have had another hit the bar all though offside underrated and never got a big transfer deal I would put him in the 20 million bracket but think injury as let him down on a big money move

if fit he'd be my wildcard for the World Cup - I'd take him over Sturridge, Defo etc

Like any goalscorer you have to be in position to miss --Charlie is an instinctive goalscorer as he has proved throughout his career where he has scored at every level. A shame that his injuries have hampered his career.

I was watching him and thinking he's not the player he was but I just knew he'd score.
Amazing finisher. His movement in the box and ability to get his strike on target is outstanding.

I have a feeling Kane will be absolutely pap in Russia unless Spurs rest him at some point.

He did, but just like his goal, he created the space for himself beautifully to enable him to get in the effort on goal. He's right up there among the best goalscorers I've ever seen at Burnley, I'd probably put him behind Willie Irvine and no one else.

Said only the other day at work that he's the best goalscorer that I can remember seeing in a Burnley shirt.

The goal today was so similar to the one he scored against us for QPR in the Premier League exactly three years ago. I think that was a corner but it his ability to drop off to create that space for himself to get the shot in. It's instinct, you either do it or you don't.

He is yet another name to add to the great players we have had the fortune to see play in Claret and Blue. I would love to see him back playing for Burnley

Probably the bedt goalscorer i saw for us. The strange thing was though we played better as a team without him.

Think I'm maybe a team or two younger than you Tony but that's the same I think.

For me, Austin is the best poacher I've ever seen play for Burnley.

Don't think he's the best of characters, plus he knows where the physio table is more than the net.

nobody makes space for themselves and attacks the ball as well as austin.

Had he not had so many injury problems, he'd have racked up a load of England caps and, probably be in the W Cup squad.
He's just got that knack you can't coach, of being in the right place so often.

I used to love watching Austin play for us. It was great to see how much opposition defenders got so wound up with him constantly hassling them. And I'll never forget sitting behind the goal directly in line with that 20 yarder that flew in the top corner at Charlton. I'd have let him **** my wife!

He's had a difficult 12 months or so with injuries after being relatively injury free for Southampton. But for the injuries I think he'd have been in the England squad and probably gone for £30m to another club as his goal scoring record is excellent.

He's been on the bench for the last couple of months for Southampton which is crazy given their lack of goals - they were failing to even create chances for most of the season. Since Austin came back into the team this has changed completely and he's probably saved their manager his job.

I'd defo have him back but I do not understand why the likes of Spurs (spending £15m on that donkey Jansen and a fortune in wages on Llorente) and Arsenal never went in for him. Liverpool, Everton, and even United before getting Lukaku have all needed centre forwards recently....and Charlie would have been a no risk signing.

It's football "snobbery" the big clubs not going for him - they think they are bigger and better than signing players like Austin but as said natural goal scorers like Austin are few and far between.

After his run for QPR where he proved he could do it at the top level I was surprised a top club didn’t come in for him.
Even as an impact sub he’d have scored plenty for a club like Spurs or United.

Charlie Austin is one of the best strikers in modern football, and it was a pleasure to watch him play

He's a massive risk because of the knee injury that Steve Bruce opted to tell the world about in 2013. Add that to his shoulder and it will clearly put clubs off. Amazingly, he was restricted to sub appearances for Southampton this season until last week.

He is but Southampton were prepared to take the risk. Surprised nobody else did, or anyone bigger did.
Cost wise for one of the big clubs he would be quite cheap for that very reason.

Southampton were prepared to take the risk. He's been there two years in January but has only started 15 league games for them and two of those have been in the last week.

That's what he said to his Mrs after his 2 month affair.

He still goes out and throws money about, gets into trouble and almost got caught snorting coke.

Don't think he wants to be here and don't think Dyche would sign him.

Maybe when he's older and reformed a la Barton.
