Dwight McNeil

Post by Hedontplayforyou » Tue Jul 24, 2018 6:12 pm

Heard a lot of good things about him from last night cameo.

Yes it’s one appearance before anyone goes on about it. I’m here to ask if anyone has seen him in the youth set up? What’s he been like etc? It’s always exciting to see a youngster come trough the ranks and push the first team.
Does anyone think that, in time, he’ll be able to do that?

If we end up with no signings this transfer window he may well be on the bench

As good as he may be in the future he is not ready just yet. Maybe to be on the fringes but please lets not buy into this mindframe of well we dont need to buy anyone because mcneil, dunne, and agyei all played okay in a friendly against PNE.

I was simply enquiring into how the lad was progressing.
I didn’t expect someone to turn round and say he’s better than Mbappe

Saw him play once and he scored a cracker. I said on here that he had something. Hope he makes it into the first team.

Seen this lad on a few occasions at youth level, over the last two seasons, was one that stood out for me, given he is still only 18 is clearly not ready yet, but could get 1 or 2 sub appearances and may be one to look out for next season.

With such emphasis on nutrition and sports science these days surely sending a player out onto the pitch who is 'hungry' is detrimental to the team, no matter how talented he is?

Don’t get the ‘NOT READY’ as they are so young. If your good enough age doesn’t matter. Look at the likes of Ali and Rashdord. Trever Steven as quoted above!

I thought his contribution tonight was fantastic. He still needs more experience and sometimes got caught out, but he has certainly got the ability to be a good player for us. Some of our best attacking moves came through his talent tonight. Well done lad.

Really promising performance from him tonight. I'd start him on Sunday. The "He's One Of Our Own" chant was pushing it slightly though! Hasn't he only been here for 2 seasons?

4 years - come through the youth system and put in a performance that was immense for a young lad with his experience.

We’ll save the “one of our own” chant for just Jay Rod when we play Brighton again though if that makes you happier.

Considering it was his full debut, that was outstanding.

Until he tired he was superb and his set piece delivery in the first half was excellent.

Cracking bonus from the night

He created three excellent chances and forced a good save from their keeper.

That’s impressive numbers from a creative player. If he fills out and retains that technique there’s real, real potential there.

Fantastic performance tonight. I was even more impressed as he gave the ball away very early on which gave them a breakaway chance. On such a big night it could have unsettled him and caused a nervy performance. He moved on, wanted the ball and contributed to a great game tonight. Let's not build him as the next Messi but he sure looks to have something about him and, with the right guidance, could turn out to be a good 'un!

He isn't the finished article, but that was as outstanding performance for someone so inexperienced.
I too, think he should start on Sunday, he can only improve through experience. We need someone to pose a threat in the final third and he has the ability to make chances. He combined really well with Taylor, who I'd also start on Sunday

Very cultured performance. Reminded me of David Beckham in that he didn't give the impression he would race past a full back but could put a lovely ball in the box
