Absolute Shambles of a move
I remember being 13 years old doing a paper round to get to the Burnley matches
I wouldn’t have got to 2 matches a season if I was a West Ham fan today
Something has to be done

Years ago we met WHU fans at the Rosehill just before they were given the London Stadium. They had bought debenture
on a 5 Yr deal only to be told the price was 4 times what they'd been told They sent the tickets back and swore they'd only watch away games in future

Not to defend West Ham and football ticket pricing in general but looks like that screenshot deliberately misses off band 5 and band 6 seats with Band 6 being less than half the price of Band 4. U18 season ticket in Band 5 or 6 seats was £109

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
Outrageous prices undoubtedly, but West Ham have 55,000 season ticket holders and room for 3,000 visiting fans in a stadium that holds 62,000...so very few relatively speaking at these prices.
Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
They’re just selling a seat for the same price no matter who buys it. The same applies at gigs. It’s not that out of the ordinary.

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
But it’s totally out of the ordinary for football and not relative … people don’t go to 23 gigs a year normally and more if you count away games and cups
If the youth can’t afford to go to matches - or Fathers can’t afford to take their sons (or mothers and daughters) its not good …
For a family of 4 at the cheapest it’s £380 just for the tickets
Scandalous
Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
Keep saying that if someone is willing to pay the prices then clubs will continue to set the price at those levels.

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
Owners are killing clubs with outrageous pricing.
No concession prices at Old Trafford now for the rest of the season.
To compare with concert tickets isn't relevant at all in my view. They are one offs.
The supporters of the two Manchester clubs and two Liverpool clubs combined over the weekend to lead protests about ticket prices. And it's not just in the Premier League. Remember, some young adult tickets at Burnley went up over 140% this season and many, many of them in excess of 50%.

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
Thing is the London clubs know for every long standing fan they price out they'll be a tourist willing to pay silly money, and probably blow a fortune in the club shop.
Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
And our club is heading the same way, 55 quid for an adult if you want to go in the Bob Lord or Longside upper on Friday night.
Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
All those clubs, including ours have good value season tickets, especially for concessions, those buying tickets at this point of the season are perhaps buying as a one off, so it can be compared to concerts etc. where there are no concessions at all, I've recently paid over £150 for a 13 yr old to attend a concert along with 3 adults at the same price.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:41 pmOwners are killing clubs with outrageous pricing.

The only time clubs will stop charging these prices, is when fans stop buying them, and that doesn't seem to be happening.

Totally different to musical entertainment. There is choice in the concert market, we don’t support a football team because it is cool, or we like a recent album. It is for life. Some of us can no more stop going on than cut off our right arm. So it is sheer exploitation. It is nasty, profiteering and has no place in our society.
We will become like the US - a nation of the haves and have nots, where the latter can barely take part in society due to cost.

If you think increases of over 140% for some is good value then fine, but the concession prices were scandalous for a second successive year and it wouldn't surprise me to see it continue until they've virtually got rid of them.

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
Come across a post on twitter stating that there are tickets available for £66 on all 4 sides of old Trafford for the Forest game , 1730 KO.
The poster says this isn’t normal, have the paying fans had enough?
I believe the prices have gone up £26 mid season. Some fans paid £70 pre season for membership to be able to pay £40 a ticket.
Another post, which I totally agree with is that clubs want punters who are willing to pay whatever for the tickets as they are more likely to spend on concessions and merchandise.
Unless someone gave me a ticket for a professional football match, I can’t see me bothering going again.

Appalling. The worst thing they could do. There will be no West Ham supporters - only tourists.

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
Excessive ticket pricing is one of the biggest issues in football. The problem is escalating and accelerating; I fear many owners think they've reached a tipping point where they can get away with it. Fans need to continue to speak out.
Concepts of "good value" are utterly subjective; a better way to assess is inflation and tickets are far outstripping RPI. Its people's game and profiteering is objectionable.
Genuinely find it infuriating when people say things like, 'people pay it'. That lets the profiteers off the hook. There are lots of things that could be done, but that doesn't make them right.

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
The only reason I still have a season ticket is for my son who is 10 and I dont want to him to miss out because of my feelings towards being ripped off. The prices are out of control.
Having said that I'm not well off so at this rate the decision will be taken out of my hands. He'll then more than likely become a Leeds fan, as he has a wealthy relative on his mum's side who has tried to convert him and he'll be able to afford to take him

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
Your sons ticket will work out at about 7 or 8 quid a game, which is fantastic value, but like you say someone has to go with him. If you divide the costs of your tickets by 2, it's still good value for a season of football.Walt wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 1:06 pmThe only reason I still have a season ticket is for my son who is 10 and I dont want to him to miss out because of my feelings towards being ripped off. Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
It's not the people's game anymore ( if it ever was), football clubs are multi million pound businesses, and have to be run as such, so they will make maximum profit, and until the grounds are half empty, they will keep doing it. I'm not saying it's right, but it's life.Jacko wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 12:47 pmExcessive ticket pricing is one of the biggest issues in football. Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
I was on holiday in London last May and wouldn't have minded watching a PL game with my lads but all sold out.
The tourist market means virtually all PL matches in the capital are sold out.
The supply and demand argument is all well and good but football is different to most other events in that:
a) it was historically a working man's game,
b) you can pay £100 but have no idea of the quality of the game you go to watch. The people who shell out a fortune to watch a concert are rarely disappointed because if you like the artist you'll enjoy it unless they sound is crap or they don't play the songs you prefer.

It really is one of the biggest issues. Thankfully fans at a lot of clubs are speaking out but it's going worse. I DON’T pay to watch us at the prices we charge. That was my choice. Do I miss it? Not anymore. Last game was against Ipswich in the cup in the VK season.
It’s difficult for clubs atm imo. The fans want them to spend spend spend, but apart from the TV deals where does the money come from? The only way to reduce pricing is to cap EVERYTHING, transfer fees, wages, tickets etc etc.

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
Hopefully the lifting of the 3 o'clock broadcasting ban may force clubs to look at admission prices.
I can see many fans turning their backs on live games, especially travelling fans and opting for the option of watching it at home, or in a pub etc..
No chairman will want to see gaps in their grounds, but at this rate we're heading for the Italian league for example, where very few fans travel away, and the grounds are often half empty.
Everything about going to watch football these days is a complete rip off, and taking fans for granted will reach a ripping point at some stage.

The whole "taken for granted" attitude clubs show to supporters these days is making me fall out of love with the game slowly but surely.

For all of our price increases over the last couple of seasons
Pace will be in for a rude awakening if we don't get promoted in the next 2 seasons with attendances.

First year in a long time i haven't had a season ticket this year. I've done most of the away games and been on the Turf about 3 times due to the walk on prices. Its a shame but as you say thats the way it is, with near enough every game on TV its easy to get into the habit of watching from home/the pub.Walt wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 1:22 pmAt the moment it's ok. I've said before, I think my ticket and my nephew's ticket are good value, but that's the only money the club gets off me
If someone thinks everything at football is a rip off, other than tickets, the rest can be easily avoided.

I take a bag in now rather than buy pies and drinks from the concourse .... Can I afford to buy them ... yes ... but am I prepared to be ripped off .... No
I'm convinced they must be losing money compared to when they had the pie and pint deal and the 3 items deal on the non alcohol items
They have hiked everything up and it's a shame because they didn't need to for the tiny if at all extra margin they have made

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
It's all fine when you're doing well, but as said above, another year in the 2nd division and we're back to the hardcore support. It's alright for clubs with huge fanbases, they'll get away with £40-£50 a ticket but there's not enough Burnley fans out there willing to pay that to watch us slug it out in mid table with Swansea or Watford. There's a lot riding on this season.
I suppose the only thing that could change is if we lose the 3pm blackout. I've always been against that, but if it happened then all of a sudden clubs are going to have to find a way to coax people into the stadium instead of watching every game on a quality, reliable service. The only real way to do that is to make it cheaper.

Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
I'd be interesting to see how many walk on tickets we've sold for certain games this season. For the Tuesday night games it must be absolutely tiny.
Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!
Young kids are the lifeblood of the club, future fans who will continue to go to games as they get older, and hopefully take their children in years to come.
Kids prices should always be cheap enough for parents to take them along to games as and when they can.
ClaretTony mentions the huge percentage price increases for both young fans and elderley fans over recent seasons, in my opinion this isn't acceptable.
I'm sure the club won't benefit from this in the long term, gates will fall if promotion isn't achieved.
If promotion is achieved then the club will fall into the bracket along with the rest of the Premier League clubs in that gate money will become less relevant due to the huge income which comes with Premier League status.
The club should not overcharge for young children and teenagers, they are our future. How on earth someone can claim that 140% price increases are good value is beyond me!
Some people who use this board do so to create silly arguments, that's the only reason that they come on here. Some of them do so with more than one username when it suits them.
As regards kids pricing......the board should think long and hard as this is a very important issue.
Re: West Ham charging £85 & upwards for a child ticket!

If we made season tickets cheaper it would still be the same people buying them
If we are doing well, people will come, if we are doing badly, people stay away, whatever the cost.
