Another anthem

Post by minnieclaret » Fri Feb 03, 2017 12:52 pm

There are a couple of threads going on new anthems.
Here's my feeble attempt. From the lyric it's better for away matches.

I wish I was in the land of cotton,
Mills and hills there not forgotten,
we're away, we're away,
we're away with Burnley.
Burnley town where I was born in,
Early on one frosty mornin',
we're away, we're away,
we're away with Burnley.
I wish I was in Burnley and not away,
The Longside, Beehole and Bob Lord Stand,
We live and die for Burnley,
Burnley, Burnley,
We're from the North,
From Burnley

Sung at this tempo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OKdbc0DYpM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not the wonderful but much slower Elvis version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWVgLLnGaWs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I only posted The King cos it's one of my all time favourites. Bit of self indulgence.

Minnie - given the number of east lancs cotton workers that chose to starve (some to death) for refusing to work confederate cotton don't think this is an appropriate tune for Burnley

I assume it's just me that can't get enthusiastic over a song for this or that player, or any other occasion for that matter.
For some reason when i read the lyrics i had "land down under" as the tune in my head
