Surprised with people putting pope in. If he gets injured we don't know what ledzgins (correct me if it's spelt wrong) has to offer. I think it's important to play him and rest pope after the week he's had.

Ledzgins
Bardsley tarka long taylor
Brady Westwood hendrick arfield
Barnes

Before yesterday thought Pope would need game time to build confidence and understanding but neither of those seem to be an issue so would rest him.

Might be inclined to play Walters wide right and Barnes and Vokes up front. Good opportunity for Hendrick to feel his way back before Huddersfield.

Bardsley....Long.....Mee.....Taylor
Walters....Westwood...Hendrick....Cork...Arfield
Vokes

Barnes for Vokes after an hour.
Giving Tarks the rest cos Mee got it at Deadwood.
I'm only leaving Pope out to protect him.

*** whoever we have, I wouldn't be risking Mee or Tark. Probably Taylor CB with Ward LB.

Is it that important or do we want the 3pts against Huddersfield at the weekend.

Play the under 23 squad

I actually think it could be good to try Taylor in the middle of defence, along with Long to see how they go.

Dyche has said he thinks Taylor could make a very good central defender so it could be worth trying.

Taylor will make a much better left back than centre back, because he's already a very good left back. Play him at left back.

Play anyone except the first team squad, prefer to keep them all fit and healthy for Saturday, that's unless SD has decided to go for a Cup this year, for another trip to Wembley.

mickey mouse comp if ever there was one, best to go at it half heartedly and avoid risking injuries to the preferred first eleven players.

I can't see Dyche making to many changes from the side that beat the b*stards. That team should have enough to beat Leeds who are bound to make some changes. It would be great to see us go on a cup run this season and make winning become a habit. Most of the side above will be challenging for 1st team places so they should give there all.

Pope should definitely play. He needs as many games as possible and I don't trust Legzdins.

I think tiger76 has it, but possibly give Leggings a game in goal.

Play the under 23 squad
It's important. For one thing,. the best parts of the last 30 years have been when we won something. Not the years when we got knocked out of the cups early and finished in mid-table. I don't agree that we should aim never to win anything ever again - it's an easy target to achieve, but a very boring one.

For another, since when was there a rule that players can't play midweek and at weekend? Are Dyche's players somehow unfit, weaker brethren, unable to hack it for 39 games in a season? Because his Championship players were fitter than that.

Do you really want to give Leeds a better chance to beat us just because there's the possibility it may affect our result next weekend? No thanks. They still think they are a premier league team as it is.

I don't think many on here would be talking about how the cup is worthless if they get the chance to see us win silverware at Wembley.

What's better than being in a competition without lucrative cash payouts? Football like it used to be post tv money.

That's fine but we don't want to get dragged into a feisty slugfest where we pick
up injuries or suspensions. I'd rather lose than, say, have any of the midfield knackered.

Surely we won't risk injury to Pope with the current goalkeeping situation. He has to be rested. It's just a case of who plays CB with Long.

Dyche doesn't leave players out in case they get injured so he will put out a team he thinks can win. If the new goalie isn't yet up to speed with the 'framework' or fitness he won't play.

Hope its a strong team, but I'm guessing that the majority who will play on Sat won't play tonight.

Expect Walters, Long, Bardsley, Taylor, Westwood, Barnes to start, plus probably Vokes.

I like Cup games, so looking forward to it!

I think Pope will play because he needs as many games as he can get. He's as likely to get injured in a league game in any case.

Team,

Pope
Bardsley Long Tarkowski Taylor - same back four as Blackburn
JBG Hendrick Westwood plus one
Barnes plus one

Not sure of the two plus ones - depends how we play really - could be 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 - Vokes and Walters must come into the reckoning and if we go 4-4-2 then I'd expect either Arfield or Brady to play.

Interesting no one sees wood starting?

I'd love it, just love it, if he scored against these from a cross supplied by Taylor.

I hate Leeds, but a bit non plussed about the whole fixture.

I don't think that playing our 2nd 'choice' eleven in this cup is doing anyone a disservice.
Our 2nd choice eleven this season is arguably as good as our 1st eleven last season, with this seasons 1st eleven being the best we've had for quite some time.

Looking at our various "weakened " sides on this thread, they'd do very well in the Championship

Obviously, Leeds were always "DIRTY" but are they still the Neanderthal thugs that they used to be in the Billy Bremner era?

For those who are concerned about Pope playing in case he gets injured.
Do you advocate him being excused from training as well?
He's just as likely to injure himself on the training pitch. Heaton's injury could just have easily happened in training, or in the pre-match warm-up. He simply landed badly.
