Can't play like that and expect people to turn a blind eye.

Palace are awful, and with what seams half a dozen first trainers out, did very little to earn their easiest 3 points of the season.

Questions deservedly asked although I'm sure as per the answers will be left unanswered

It's taken less time than I thought for the usual snipers to raise their heads. They've had a good few months' enforced lay-off but seem to be raring to go again.

Palace are a very decent side, not many regular starters missing today, we probably had more missing............the carnival is over

You can't defend that, I doubt even the chaps with the thickest claret specs can put a positive spin on that.

No 9ne likes losing, but the fashion of the defeat was extreamly worrying.

I've said it previously, but when Mr Dyche's motto of minimum requirement is maximum effort is on show, I don't mind a defeat, however once again today I don't think a few players can say they delivered on that expectation.

We look lost when asked to try and win a game

To be fair though we were really poor today. Palace werent much better but we failed to test Hennessy properly at all.
We've been on a fairly rough rum recently but no wins in 6 is a poor return. We do need a bit of luck though

If that's case, let's thank our lucky stars they had several first teamers out.

We wouldn't want to have faced a full strength palace today..

Can I have a go?.............Surely when we go behind early in a game the minimum requirement is to work the opposition keeper?

Be interesting to see our total shots on target in the last half a dozen games, there seems very little joy or fun in the way we try to retrieve a losing position. This stat that when we have gone behind in the PL under Dyche of 49 games, results in 40 defeats and 9 draws is worrying to say the least.

16 chances on target in last 6 games. So not even 3 per game.

Obviously on the flip-side, once we go in front we rarely drop points, even if we score just one.

Hey Ho, who actually cares? If we show anger we are negative nellies, if we accept abject displays we are blind to the truth.

You're right of course. No side should ever be below its best - we beat the Champions away on the first day of the season, and it is utterly unacceptable that we haven't won every other game since.

Fortunately for us, there are plenty of other teams as bad as us in this division. Including Everton, Stoke, Brighton, West Brom, Bournemouth, Watford, Leicester, Swansea, Man City, Southampton, and Brighton again - all of whom have failed to beat Palace in their last 13 games. So when Palace get relegated because of being awful, there'll be seven or eight equally bad teams going with them - including us.

What do you propose to do asbout it, Macca? Start a "sack the board" campaign? Refuse to turn up again until we hit a bit of form? Or merely go and find another club that never has bad results. (Not Man City, they're one of the teams that failed to beat Palace.)

Hodgeson's done a good job getting Palace a mid table team, back into being a good mid table team. They will comfortably avoid relegation, so they are no mugs. While I think a lot of us have had our expectations raised beyond all recognition this season losing to Palace is not a crisis in itself. The collective problem comes with when does a difficult run of games turn into a bad run. We need a lift be it a signing or two or another against the odds smash and grab to give it a lift. It would be a shame to let the season fizzle out after the excitment that we generated in those first weeks and months.

It's not that Vegas, it's the added b0llocks in the opinion that we get on here after a defeat.

Example - Bardsley was rubbish today... that's the opinion, which is fine, I doubt any Burnley fan would disagree.

Here's the added b0llocks that we've seen tonight (usual case from some posters)............. Bardsley is useless, he hasn't had one good game for us, I don't know why we bought him.

Same with Hendrick.

Absolutely worrying. The game was effectively over after 21 minutes. SD needs to start taking more risks to affect games offensively. He'll have plenty of discussion on the touchline but changes always seem to be made too late. We are screaming out for a Number 10 and I'm sorry Hendrick is certainly not the answer.

What a silly post.

Firstly just because Palace have not lost to several other teams doesn't mean we accept our abject display.
Yes we beat Chelsea, that doesn't mean if we lose the other 18 away games all is well because we beat the champions.
Like Mr Dyche says, we park results after they pass. We look to the next one to do it again and progress.

When we lose it hurts, the hurt is a sign of love, passion and being bothered about it. Why if you feel such pain would you so easily swap teams?

If you're a football fan, that's ok.

I'm however a Burnley fan and I want them to win every week. When we don't, especially in the manner of today it hurts even more.
The fact it's now half a dozen games where we can count on 1 hand golden chances created in the game, makes you ask questions what is going to be done to address the issues.

Is it that worrying considering we are still in 7th after 23 matches.

People seem to ignore the opposite that if we score first, which we have done many times this season, we are almost certainly likely to win.

What's the alternative to accepting it? I don't rate running around shouting "wha wha it's not fair, when we're seventh in the league we should never play badly" all that useful.

What's going to be done to address the issues? Here's my suggestion. We, as supporters, do nothing. If each of us decided that we were each going to do something about it, nothing would ever get done. No, what I suggest is as follows: we appoint a delegate to do the work for us. It's a risk, giving a lot of power to one man, but if we get the right man he might be able to extricate us from the current unfortunate position. The man I would suggest is Sean Dyche, because I think he might be able to solve some of our problems. Have you a better suggestion?

Who's shouting wha wha wha it's not fair?

People have a right to feel upset with the performance today, I'm not the only 1 who has thought today and previous games some players have been well below par... look at the ratings thread.
Yes we are 7th, yes it's bloody fantastic, but when things haven't been going too well, fans ask questions, look at personnel and tactics and ask what could be done better.

By continuing to play players out of position or to keep playing players who have been regularly below par warrants a question being asked when it doesn't work for the 6th consecutive game.

Small margins though.

As has been pointed out on another thread, we could have easily have twice over Xmas and got a point today and v Liverpool.

There isn't a lot wrong.

Is this the same Palace who have lost once in their last 12 league games, and who have only lost 3 games since September. (Two of those by single goal margins against Spurs and Arsenal).
They may have had a few out today, but it's a very strong squad, and based on their form since September they could quite easily end up well into the top half of the table - ( indeed only 1 point from 10th now)

They did very little to win today, and we caused them zero problems.
They had 6 first teamers out, including 3 of the back 4 and we never gave them one defensive test or scare.
We could have easily avoided defeat today, even won, but we didn't. What that was down to, was there for all to see.

They had 6 first teamers out, including 3 of the back 4 and we never gave them one defensive test or scare.
We could have easily avoided defeat today, even won, but we didn't. What that was down to, was there for all to see.
That might all be true, but it's still plainly ridiculous to describe Palace as an awful team - even with players out.
Despite an atrocious start to the season I expect them to finish in the top 10 in the best league in the world.

Was it really only last week that we were rightly taking the pi$$ out of the entitled City fans for their strop about not being ahead at half-time? Hmmm...

Time to make myself scarce.
I get the fact folk have opinions, but i often question the validity of them.
1.... Have they attended the game they're giving their critique on?
2.... Are they genuine fans?
3.... Do they have the basic understanding of football?
4.... Were their parents stood out side the Turf screaming for Teasdale's head on a stick?
We have a fantastic club, and those of us who have witnessed the lowest ebb, sort of shrug our shoulders and enjoy the great times that are happening now.
I don't think we've peaked yet,but i know we come pretty close to hitting rock bottom.
I look forward to telling my grand kids of the great players that have graced the Turf, just like my grandad told me.

BB,

Point 1- Do you actually mean `attended`, or `watched`? I only ask as I think peoples opinions on how the game went are equally relevant, whether they attended, or watched the whole game on TV. This also goes for the `rate the ref` feature on here.

Point 4 - I too have watched the dross of which you speak. We aren't dross now though, and those days are well behind us. While I appreciate us remembering how bad we have been, I've moved away from `apologising` for this, and I think others should too. It's relevant to measure our performances this week with the performances of last week, not the performances away at Torquay, or Maidstone, whilst thanking our lucky stars we aren't there anymore.

We are Premier League. We've achieved it on hard work and merit. We've earned our place here. It's time we accepted it. We are always harping on about how **** we were in the fourth division.... i'd rather hear about how brilliant we were in the late 50's-early 60's from the likes of your Grandad, and how good we are now.

Who will be our "Jimmy Mac" in these Premier League years?

Carnival appears to have been in full swing then.

We didn’t play well yesterday. Tarkowski has a poor game and was lucky not to give away a penalty, Bardsley had a really poor showing, and I can only remember Hendrick being on the pitch when he was letting the ball run out of play. On the flip side, I was impressed by Taylor again, think he got up the pitch more, and seemed to do well against Zaha (can’t believe he got a yellow) and Nkoudou seems to be a good loan option, if a little rusty.

I can't believe anyone is actually taking that "qualification to comment" bait from bartonsbaggage - I dismissed it after his #1.

Their wingers bossed us, their defence bossed our front guys better than I've seen anyone other team do so..... it was a bad day at the office, we'll get over it

Heaton, Lowton, Ward, Brady and Wood all starters for me, it's all a matter of perspective when debating the Palace weakened team.

Still 7th, still being realistic move onto the next game UTC

4 of those 6 games were against City, United, Spurs and Liverpool.....4 of the top teams in Europe let alone England.
We had as many shots on target as Palace....and we had more possession than Palace
We should have beaten Huddersfield
We could have easily beaten United
We deserved a draw against Liverpool.

To say that Palace are an awful side given they are one of the inform teams in the division in the last couple of months is ridiculous. Benteke cost £30m. Zaha is one of the best players in the league. They have a french international who can`t get even get in the team at the moment.

We were not brilliant against Palace by a long way but we still missed a one on one and Vokes should have scored with his header.

It`s fine to want to win every game and to be upset when we lose but a bit of perspective would not go amiss. The side we had out on Saturday cost less than Zaha could be sold for. Our wage bill is a fraction of Palaces and still probably in the bottom 3 in the league.

Almost every game we play we should be the underdog - and we certainly were when we played Palace. The bookies know that - just look at the way they price us up every week.
