Well Dunne to him. Hopefully next season will see him go to a Championship club for a 'proving' loan. That would give an excellent insight into his potential for the PL

He's certainly done well so far (and it is so far). He came back from Barrow with rave reviews about both his performances and attitude and the same is now happening at Accrington in League Two. He's still just 20 too.

Great to see the standard we are now able to loan players to. That itself is impressive.

He is playing well and getting accolades in a league we spent a decade trying to get out of ourself. And another decade playing just above it! To be able to use that level as a platform to test our youngsters is brilliant!

I think we need to be aiming a bit higher than that, no offence to the lad but if you think that's a great standard then we may as well give up with youth now. Until were in League Two again anyway.

Yet at the same age:

Harry Maguire was playing in league one and is now a £20m defender and England international.
Michael Keane had played a handful of championship games and is now a £30m defender and England international.
Harry Kane had played a few games for Leyton Orient and Millwall and is now one of the worlds best strikers.
Jamie Vardy was 3 years away from playing for Halifax in The Northern Premier league and is now a Premier League winner and England international.
Kyle Walker had played 9 games for Northampton and is now a £50m defender and England international.
Jesse Lingaard hadnt played a league game. He is now a key Man Utd player and England international.

Lets give up on him eh?

With the rate he is progressing he could conceivably be called up by The Irish under 21s in the next call ups.

I don't know why we don't loan all our young players to Accy Stanley?
We haven't had many young uns have successful loan spells but Long did and now Dunne there.

It helps when they play them.

He is nominated for a monthly award of best player for league two and suddenly he can be as good as Harry Kane.

Maybe just maybe when he is in team of the year for league 2 and 1 in succession he may be good enough to play in the premier league similar to Boyd.

We need players on loan to championship clubs, not league 2.

That's not what was said (he can be as good as Harry Kane)

What is being said is that young players gain valuable experience playing in lower leagues they may not be as technically good but the physicality is there.

In this instance he's helped prevent some of league two's best Strikers from scoring.

A lot of skills are transferable to high leagues.

Historically teams recruited lower league players rather than going abroad.

We need players going out on loan at the correct level whether that be Championship. League One, League Two or National League. This is a young lad who has already moved up one league and is getting outstanding reviews. Dean Marney played games for Gillingham when a year older than Dunne, and Tom Heaton was playing at Wycombe in his mid-20s. Scott Arfield was playing League One football at 23.

Dunne is getting some excellent experience this season. Already played 30 league games for Barrow and Accy. That's invaluable experience for him.

Also it's better for a young loan player to be at say a league 2 club and actually being selected and playing games week in week out, rather than be at at Championship club and be struggling to even make the bench some weeks imo.

In a week when Jimmy Dunne has helped Accrington to two more clean sheets, he was beaten by a goalscorer in Marc Richards. He scored five goals in six games for Swindon during Feb.

If he can help Accy to promotion then that could potentially be his next season's loan sorted out at league 1 level too.

Nice to have some positive news coming back about one of our youngsters. Long way to go but looks like he is progressing in the right way at the moment.

He’s kept up his excellent form from the sound of things.

A Stanley supporting mate reckons he’s the best centre half they’ve had. Very promising considering they've had Kevin Long there too and he’s done well when called upon in the Prem this year.

I've not seen him play at all this season because of his loans, but I was impressed on the occasions I saw him play last season. We need him moving up at least a league next season in another loan. That could be Accy if we feel League One is next stop for him.

Funnily enough I logged on to start a thread on Jimmy.
I went to watch Stanley on Saturday against Notts County.
For me, Jimmy was easily the best player on the pitch.
There were lots of Burnley fans there, so I am interested what they thought too.
He won everything in the air, cannot be far of Tarks height.
What impressed me most was his two footedness. He seems to prefer his left, but very comfortable with his right too.
The goalie rolled the ball to him 95% of the time and he played or launched it out and his distribution was good.
Why County never closed him down is beyond me!
Stanley's full backs were so far up, it felt like Stanley were playing with 2 at the back.
IMO, he is definitely ready for at least league 1.
My only concern with him staying at Stanley to do that, is the quality of the pitch.
Any league 1 dresso pitches? Give him six months in league one and then if we can the championship.
On current form I would be tying him down on a longer contract.
Any other Burnley fans seen him recently? Am I exaggerating?
