wasn't it Steve who scored a cracker at Aldershot that was then annulled when they didn't complete their fixtures?
I liked him, a good player in a poor era.

A half decent winger in the lower leagues was Steve. On his day he was a real crowd pleaser, consistency like many winger was all that stopped him going to higher levels (he was also a little lightweight). Seemed to do quite well for Mansfield too after us. Presume he retired from there. Nice one JD

Steve was assistant manager at Evostik North club Chasetown earlier this season. Not sure if he's still there but I had a quick chat with him when I went to a game there before Christmas. He has fond memories of his time with the Clarets.

One of my favourite players from that era. I remember a fantastic goal he scored at home against Fulham. Think we ended up winning 5-2.

I went to watch Darlington at Halifax with another Claret and a Darlo fan around 2002/3. Harper was playing left wing back and had a stormer in the second half, encouraged no doubt by the away fans (decent following) singing "Stevie, Stevie Harper", started by me and my mate. I got the feeling that it wasn't a regular chant.

I also saw him at a Chasetown away game last season and had a quick chat.

I'm glad you brought that one up. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. Cut in from the flank and curled it into the top corner. as I seem to remember. I thought he was alright for the level we were at, though not on the level of McMinn and Eyres.claretabroad wrote:One of my favourite players from that era.
