CCTV advice

Seems to be a lot more break ins over the last few months.

I’m considering getting CCTV installed, 3 or 4 cameras and alerts sent to my phone/ saved on a hard drive.

Anyone with any experience or expertise here, looking for advice and rough costs

I understand why folk do it as it puts your mind at rest a bit but like you say, they don’t care anymore. My mate showed my footage from his cctv showing a bloke try his car & van doors whilst they were parked on his drive then lie on his bonnet, this was in broad daylight

In terms of installation this product is the most simple to fit. Security Light LED and HD CCTV, notification straight to phone no subscription fee, and can detect whether car, animal or person. Around £179.99 per one would suggest front and back of the property or any point of entry.

Apart from products like that your looking at a 4 camera wired system, around £250 for a decent one, but then you have larger installation costs. And not as much functionality.

Waste of time

A burgler wrapped up with face covered and gloves on will rob you with a camera in their face or not

Just don’t get one of these cheap kits that’s got all the equipment in it. Looking around £450 + fitting for a recorder with 30 days footage (4TB) and 3 decent cameras.

Even with cctv footage police can't do anything with it. Unless there is 100% certainty then you can easily dismiss cctv footage.

Get the best system picture quality you can afford or don't bother.
Install in a place they can't steal it as they will steal it given a chance.
The main benefit is its a little deterrent so they might go for the easier option on your street.

Fit the best locks you can afford.
Security lights are also a very good option (that come on with PIR passive infra red, not only that when you come home in the dark you can see to get in .
Make sure your windows have decent locks as well....
If you want CCTV dont skimp and buy the cheapest option, buy a reputable quality make.

But don't forget all the best Locks and CCTV in the world will keep out is ... an Honest man ....

If someone is determined to get in they will.

Like someone has said make it difficult and the toe-rags will go elsewhere ... where its easier.
