Hopefully Silverwood won’t be far behind.

Stewart to take over Silverwood till the winter?

Didn't Strauss leave the role in the first place to look after his wife when she had cancer? If he wants it I'd let him have the job back full time.

Giles gone…now they need to get rid of Silverwood and the 100!

I don’t understand this fully, the issues here are above Giles level and most notable below him although he did appoint the coach I guess.

We are struggling with an ECB level focus on white ball and basically ignoring red ball cricket.

Not sure what the 100 has to do with the ashes or India last winter.

I guess next to go is Silverwood but for me Strauss and Harrison should be removed as well totall clean slate.

The 100 is now forced in mid summer along with the existing 20/20, pushing county games to start of spring / autumn when the weather is inevitably rubbish, the wickets are awful and there’s a lot of games cancelled. This then has a knock on effect for red ball cricket.

Also not read anything on the ECB site but the BBC says he stood down Rather than sacked, could it not have been his decision?

The 100 wasn’t around when we played India in fact correct me if I am wrong but the county championship games have been focussed at the start and the end of the season for several years now!

I don’t see why it needs to be split like that anyway could we not play county championship mon-wed mon-thurs then T20/ 40 over (Or whatever they play now) on a weekend.

The 100 doesn’t affect this at all as they are separate from the County structure so allows counties to play young players to replace players that are called up to the 100 so we could play it all together will take some organising with schedules but not anything that is crazy really.

And to add I think this decision making was above Giles’s level anyway!

I always found him to be a decent guy and he was open and honest at the end of the Ashes. He could have been told to step down or sacked but I also see him having the sense to do the right thing as well or step down of his own violation as well.

Was that the role he had? He did step aside to care for his wife.
