Should be a good tournament, and England do have a genuine shot at lifting the title.

Looking forward to this - England's form was frighteningly good in the warm-ups. If they take that level into the tournament we're favourites to win.

Come on England!

Looking at the teams involved did the Jocks not bother with this tournament as well ?

You'll be shocked to discover Scotland failed to qualify. :)

Can’t take to woman’s football at all. It’s so slow and I’ll just leave it at that before the woke warriors jump on.

I might have gone to a game with the kids. But the nearest venue is over 2.5hrs away. The geographical spread of venues really is baffling. Essentially 3 in Manchester and 2 in and around Sheffield. 5 others in the south. North East, Midlands, Eastern England have diddly squat

Looking forward to this, not seen any diving and rolling around or surrounding the refs in the warm up games. I always find the keepers let the standard down historically so it will be interesting to see if they have improved

Put it on, Whitney Houston blaring out in the background and the crowd singing along. No thanks.

What is irritating is the constant direct comparison between the men's and women's games .... We were told tonight that Ellen White was only two goals away from the all-time England goal scoring record, held by Wayne Rooney !!

She may be a quality forward in the women's game, but any objective analysis .... well, you know the rest !

Goal given, 1-0 England, Beth Mead, that might settle England down after a nervy start.

Watching on iPlayer with radio 5 commentary. The tv one is dreadful.

Lots of mistakes happening. England lucky to be winning.

Strange people that can’t accept a game as a game. Of course it’s not mens football but I’ve watched some crap at that game. It’s different but you still get some cracking matches.

No reference at all to football. Pretty grim when people (especially the youngsters) can't enjoy themselves without someone moaning about it.

Anyway, not interested in starting an argument I'm enjoying the footy :D

Another huge chance for England right on HT, but Austria hanging on, and well it's only 1-0 they are still right in this contest.

Pleasing that England are creating chances, but we need to be more clinical.

Absolute pants.

Me also, remembering that it's a squad of full-time Professionals who play for Europe's large professional Clubs against a team of part-time players all of whom play in the Austrian domestic women's league ..

I've watched semi-professional or amateur Rugby Union and Football matches, enjoyed the competitiveness and the skills of the players, and appreciated it for what it is, but wouldn't compare them to the British Lions, for example ..

It's better than watching the mens team. At least we are attacking instead of 10 sideways then backwards.

Isn't it good to see footballers in shorts again. A return to these in the mens game would be an improvement. Socks over the knees should be banned.

I had the privilege of going to the Swedish Women's hotel and training ground yesterday to photograph their no 1 keeper Hedvig Lindahl. The media centre which has been set up at the hotel was pretty awesome. What a lovely lady Hedvig was, we had a really good hour or so with some superb shots in the bag and a good laugh too.

I'll certainly be watching the tournament.

You would appreciate the messages on the pitch side LED: "Women play football. Not women's football."

Enjoyed watching the game. Some good football. A lot of strong defensive headers. England keeper made a great save.

Much as I tried to remain objective, the second half was really poor.

I enjoy playing walking football these days. The Lionesses play better football than most of the guys I play with even though most of us have been playing for more than 5 decades. The beautiful game is still the beautiful game.

I'm not that far from the Lionesses' training base. I'm planning on taking my granddaughters to watch them train, if it's possible.
