Costelloe

a mention for the young lad, first career start in a big league, away from home to boot. I thought he did some excellent things and I suspect we will see a lot more of him

Some good runs and great positions. Let himself down at the final point. He will learn.

Liked his performance, obviously raw but fair play showing some nice touches, fit into his role well and had lots of energy first half.

He did Ian but I’m sure they’ll work with him on this. The lad worked very hard though and I’m sure he will improve.

Classic first performance full of promise with bags of inexperience. Would have been nice of him to finish one of those chances as it would have really settled him down.

Did very well for his first outing, tired in second half and replaced exactly at the right moment.

All substitutions were spot on with no dithering on the sidelines

Decent display tonight. Hopefully he'll be pushed down the pecking order with a few more signings in the coming weeks though

Did not let the team down. Think he will be in or around the squad. Showed his inexperience at times but will only get better. Reminded me of a young Lafferty

I was happy with him tbh.

Skilful and good on the ball, however very raw and needs game time.

A debut to be happy with

Hints of early Dwight for me

Likes to have the ball at his feet. Good touch. Looks to bring defenders to him to see if they commit. Needs to improve some decision making

Personally I liked how he seemed left footed, but didn’t have an issue getting to the byline and crossing with his right, effectively too! I can’t remember the last time we had an effective winger with both feet!

He did ok but had two good (one golden) chances to score.

I’ll have more patience with the plaudits once he’s had an assist or a goal.

Good debut.

The thing that struck me which perhaps wasn't noticeable on tele was his physique for a young lad.

Started of excellent, didn't look out of place at all.
The miss seemed to affect him, and he tired second half, but I hope we see a lot more of him.

I also hope one of the older pros tells him what a good game he had, he'll probably be kicking himself for the miss.

He was superb given it was his debut. The first missed chance seemed to catch him (understandably ) In two
Minds for the second and he seemed to look to pass rather than shoot at the last minute. But a promising debut

He did well up until the miss, then seemed to go in on himself - which is understandable.

Two footed, wanted the ball, not scared to try things. The thing for me though was his intelligence to play in the system ……. happy to stretch the pitch and hug the touch line. Confident enough to know that was his job.

His position and centre forward are the two to improve. But definitely a bonus to have him come through like this.

he did very well, the one that went wide is irrelevant. Every player everywhere has done that. Others will burst the net in due course. I thought he had a good game.

He showed promise in the U23 games I watched last season (as did Owen Dodgson). Was very surprised when I saw him in the starting line-up but then it took me four hours to work out what that actually was. We needed width and, in reality, we had to get it from him.

Couldn't see the game but delighted (hugely) with the result and the stats  . The feedback is great on the lad.

Just the one game but a very positive start. Well done, Dara! Well done our youth recruitment for spotting him in Ireland.

Really promising first half. Thought he tired more than anything. There was a point just before he came off where he looked exhausted.

Lovely to see him given a chance. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of him.

This ^^^^

Was really intelligent and quite nuanced for a 19 year old. Didn’t think he was “raw” at all! Can’t understand those comments. He missed a couple of chances the second of which was a pinger of a pass where he didn’t quite time his run right. So be it.

Looked completely at home in his first game. Very telling. Also not at all out muscled for a young lad. Some confidence and composure and he'll do better and better.

It's great young lads getting a go. Means far more than just football.

Looked more comfortable out wide than he did up top in the middle. Is he a winger?

Did well and settled as the game went on.

For anyone criticising this lad, he has played every game I've seen at Under 23 level on the left wing or as a left sided striker.
In that context I think he did very well on his debut in a completely new role.
