Our name is on the trophy more than once - and it will soon be going on again with it coming back to the Turf

Without wanting to throw a jinx on anything, I wonder what the lowest number of defeats is on those trophy plaques?

Not sure whether that was the trophy in use at the start of the league but Preston went undefeated

We did - it's just that some players took them who weren't entitled to them

Do we think it’ll be presented after the Cardiff game or at home to QPR if we’ve won it by then?

Looks like Preston just missed out. From the National Football Museum website: Ornate silver trophy, first awarded to the Football League Champions in 1891 and used continuously until 1992. This trophy is also known as 'The Lady' due to the statuette that adorns the top.

Preston undefeated in 1888/89.

Really? Didn’t know that. I remember Joey Barton being a bit miffed at not getting one on the day. Who took one that wasn’t entitled? And did they keep it?

Always wondered when it came into being - interesting then who currently has the least defeats.

EDIT: Just googled and Liverpool lost once in 1893/94

I hope that whilst we may well secure the championship in the next game or two, hope they wait until the final day, post match to present the trophy etc……….

Keep the muppets off the pitch, lap of honour etc….

Then off to the pub!!!!

Forgot about that Arsenal side of 90/91. Last time trophy was used was in 1992 it says so guessing that's when the plaques stop.

They changed the trophies when Barclays were sponsoring the league - we got one in 1992 for the 4th division, but The Lady was presented to us in 2016

Doubt it. They would only present it at an away game if it was the last game of the season (well except in 2016)

Believe it's always presented to the team at the last opportunity to do so at a home game. So in our case, against Cardiff.

How many appearances do you need to qualify for a medal? Is there anyone we need to bring on for a few minutes here and there in the remaining games so they can qualify?

I’m hoping we are presented the trophy against Cardiff as I have a ticket and I’m flying over from Portugal for the day.
Also to say goodbye to Ashley Barnes. We can’t do that against QPR.
