49,327 attendance
Re: Churlinov
Schalke are an absolutely ginormous club. Kaiserslautern no minnows either. Proper sleeping giant.

Re: Churlinov
It's been a shocking season for Schalke, to think the Veltins Arena could be hosting 3rd division football next season is mental ( but as a VFL Bochum fan f*ck 'em

Yep! German champions four times, Pokal winners twice, founding members of the Bundesliga, average about 40,000. Some big clubs in 2.Bundesliga. And Dynamo Dresden average about 30,000 - in the third tier!THEWELLERNUT70 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 8:10 pmKaiserslautern who sit one place above Schalke after tonight were playing 3rd division football two seasons ago too and I think just squeaked promotion then

Re: Churlinov
It’s astonishing that those two clubs are even playing at that level, let alone Kaiserslautern having previously played even lower.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 8:10 pmKaiserslautern who sit one place above Schalke after tonight were playing 3rd division football two seasons ago too and I think just squeaked promotion then
I thought Schalke would have a good season but look at Hamburg who really should not be in that league.

Re: Churlinov
Great to see Darko on the scoresheet. Sure it meant a lot to him.
Schalke's story of underachievement post WW2 is remarkable. Huge club. Should be up there with Bayern and Dortmund. Yet we've won a first division title more recently than them.

Looks like he past 2024’s version of Steve Morgan for that goal!
