Roberts behaviour
Interested to know if there are any other Clarets out there who think Connor Roberts is an insufferable ****?
His main contribution this season seems to be to play act, get into needless craps, and act like a prat. He strikes me as quite a cocky bloke who at premier league level hasn't got a lot to be cocky about.
I'm aware many footballers act like that these days, and maybe he stands out because over the past 10 years or so we have not really had any players who behave like that. He is the only Burnley player in my 25 years supporting the team who I strongly dislike whilst playing for us.

Agree, I’m not into that whole body language thing but to me it seems he doesn’t want to be here. His performances have been worse than his attitude.

There was a moment when Brownhill (the captain) was talking to him whilst he was stood over a freekick, and Roberts was stood ignoring him whilst staring at someone off camera. Plank.
Legend in his own mind.

He knocked someone over, tried to apologise before City players played the tough guy role from what I saw.

With the incident, he did very little wrong and Edison was lucky not to see red.

Re: Roberts behaviour
Showing a bit of aggression was probably what is needed against city.

Bit of passion. Nothing wrong with that. Wish the rest of them had that fight

The question is ,Is he an idiot or just passionate,if it’s the latter we could do with a few more.

I like Roberts. He's an angry man, and our team is crying out for aggression.

Re: Roberts behaviour
Roberts is and always has been a horrible fecker. Doubt he’ll be here next season , but overall he’s just about been “ok”
Re: Roberts behaviour
Didn't do much wrong, slight challenge, not much in it , got surrounded by city players and a sly elbow in the back of his head by Edison which could easily have been a red.
Re: Roberts behaviour
He's not very good, has also said numerous times how much he hates training. So im not having the passion thing either. The only time he has any passion is playing for Wales or Swansea.
However he at least resembles a footballer, so he's better than Vitinho

Re: Roberts behaviour
Time for him to come back into the starting lineup for me. Yes he’s petulant, no he’s not a Premier League footballer - but, he’s a fighter and he’s definitely more sound than Vitinho overall.

Re: Roberts behaviour
I think we need a nutter like Roberts - or two - to galvanise us into feisty mode.
We're far too passive at times. I'm not advocating reckless, red card stuff but we do need to disrupt sides a bit more.

Not often we agree on much, but we do on this.
The guy is a bit of a shithouser (is that a word?) Winds up opponents and gets in their faces. He is passionate and always seems to give everything.

Re: Roberts behaviour
He's the same as Barnes was, an annoying little shithouser to opponents. Neither could ever be described as great footballers but they do a job and they do it to a decent standard. Every team needs them!

Re: Roberts behaviour
what mik said, the closest thing we have to Barnes. I've zero issues with him as a bloke or with his effort however he seems to be one of those players that isn't quite good enough for the PL

Re: Roberts behaviour
I am not a huge fan of his, but surely with what we are watching every week, we cannot be calling for less aggression?

Re: Roberts behaviour
I’d rather he focused on defending than petty handbags, one of our best players 2nd half of last season and form has fallen off a cliff with the step up.
Not sure how acting like a cock is showing fight or passion, unless you meant actually starting a fight. I’d rather passion was shown in his actual performance not his acting.

Re: Roberts behaviour
How about some aggression at defending? Aggression at attacking the ball in the air? less of the aggression talk and more aggressive meaningful actions.

Nothing wrong with showing a bit of spine, suggest the only wetwipes are those getting upset about it.

He did nothing wrong and was right to stand up to their unwarranted aggression. Had he been a lesser person he may well have hit the ground like falling bird and rolled around in mock agony.
He shows what is lacking elsewhere, passion!

Surprised by the hate for him to be honest. Ashley Barnes is a cult hero here for similar behaviour and rightly so.

That's what's needed a bit of aggression and passion, what you give for a Barton or a John Deary..

Barnes channelled his aggression into his play, and it is what made him a good player, even if technically he was nowhere near premier league standard. I think it was van Dijk who said he was one of the strikers he found most horrible to play against? Barnes may have been aggressive but I don’t remember him getting involved in petty handbags that often.
For Roberts on the other hand his behaviour is a distraction, and it does not help his game or make him better. Acting like an 8 year old on the pitch does not show passion, fight or desire.

Re: Roberts behaviour
I would add to my original post that despite my dislike of him, I'd still be picking him at RB over Vitinho, as he's a better player (not hard, granted - I like Vitinho but he is lightweight and out of his depth at this level).
And I definitely don't want him playing right wing, or attacking midfielder, or wherever else he has been put recently.

Re: Roberts behaviour
Yeah I would like that, but no one seems to be offering that up anytime soon. Besides, Roberts went to apologise for catching Stones and then Ederson and Lewis started the handbags flying, do you want to see our players back down and get pushed around in that situation? At least he had the balls to stand up for himself.
