Yesterday's programme

Post by Im_not_Robbie_Blake » Sun Aug 18, 2024 8:56 am

Just tried reading it. There's nothing wrong with my eyesight, but I couldn't read it - the print is far too faint. If they are all as bad as the one I bought they should make the Rovers match programmes free as compensation! (No chance, I know)

And I'm sure they've reduced the font size on the display screen in the JM/Bob Lord corner.

It's obviously not my age-induced eyesight failure..

Same problem for me. Font poor and the colour contrast is a bad one. Couldn't read the teams on the back page.

Also, the content was slimmer than ever, I thought. Don't even bother with a full preview of the opposition squad. Very poor.

Agree.

Font far too small and far too feint.

And someone claims to have designed it!

It's shocking. I had to use a torch to shine on some of it which didn't help to much. And the pages with white text on an almost pink background is even worse.

And the fixture list isn't right.
They've got Preston home as a 3pm kick-off, and they've got Millwall away still on the Saturday.

Is that down to us or the programme printers?
If we print-in house then it’s a fair point

Very disappointed with yesterday’s programme. Smaller, slimmer, less content and very difficult to read. Is this yet another example of the Club saving money at the expense of fans’ experience?

This is yet another part of the club the new owners outsourced. Been with a company called ACA since the return after the behind closed doors season.

It gets worse year by year. Saturday’s really was dreadful.

They also constantly muck up the content on the historical pages. Saturday's issue printed the same piece twice at the expense of correct text. This is down to the printers, not the guy who writes it. I suppose we collectors should be grateful for a physical issue - Blackburn & Accrington to name just 2, produce solely digital online programmes.

A few last time in the Championship didn’t produce a printed programme and Reading didn’t even bother with an online effort.

I don’t always buy a programme but Saturday I did. Not going to bother as I found it poor compared to recent years.

Sadly we were one of the clubs who opted not to produce a programme during the pandemic. I think that ended interest for quite a few.

Yep, that did it for me. It was difficult anyway. Thanks to Malcolm for his efforts over the previous 10 seasons. But yes, that ended my 50 years programme collecting.

I thought the club did produce programmes, just not printed versions?

They announced they would be printing programmes and did for the first game that season, and then they just stopped and only did them online which is not much use for programme collectors. The only other programme they printed was for the Liverpool game at the end of the season.

Cardiff fans on their Forum had a thread called Burnley Pure Class. They were very complimentary that the programme for the game had included Peter Whittingham in the match day line up at number 7.

Bought one just to see who was still here, who was new, and who had gone.
Looked at it and thought cheap and not even cheerful. Cost cutting at its best.
