Re: West Indies v England
Poor start both openers home
46 for 2 after 10 overs
A long tail England and with Salt and Jacks gone and Sam Curran at 6 need someone to get a score

For some reason I always want the West Indies to do well and don't mind when they beat England.I don't feel this way about any other international cricket teams.

Might be a war of attrition in this series.

Lost by 8 wickets D/L
Re: West Indies v England
Just feels like another pointless ODI series, with a second string out.

The scheduling is pretty horrific.
England just seemed to have turned themselves into a pretty average team in all three formats lately.

That team last night looked like a Tuesday night pub team.
Having an injured bowler bat at 8 who can't bowl in Overton
They have a full country they can pick from and they choose this.
Pounds over performance ECB

Englands record in 2024
Tests Won 7 Lost 7
ODI’s Won 2 Lost 4
T20 Won 7 Lost 4
Three of those T20 wins were against USA, Namibia and Oman.
I’m surprised they aren’t getting a lot more scrutiny.

Get rid of all experienced players and be surprised when you get beaten regularly.
Where have we seen that before, I wonder?

Re: West Indies v England
The powers that be have set a strategy that supposedly leads to world domination in the slogging competitions. However, they don’t seem to thought it through properly as we now seem to be highly ineffectual in all formats. Combine this with the mess that they have created for the counties with different competitions running simultaneously and county players playing for city sides - it’s a mess. Last night there were people playing for England who have hardly ever played a 50 over game at any standard, how can they expect success based on this?
Similarly for the longer format of the game, the county championship has now been pushed to the start and end of the season when conditions are hardly conducive to batting and building big innings and partnerships.
At the same time as all this is happening, the ECB seem to be punishing the counties, two years ago Yorkshire were relegated having all of their best players representing England, this year Lancashire have gone down, again with many players missing even though they weren’t actually playing for England at the time.

Can someone explain to me how Rob Key has improved anything?
Re: West Indies v England
We are also playing way too much cricket than most of the other big nations
I saw a stat of Root compared to the other big 4 and I think he'd played 16 tests and the others were around 6 or 7 in the last few years

Cricket is a total mess. It’s become meaningless white noise. No structure, no narrative; just endless pointless games.
