Best known for going on strike to engineer his move from Newcastle to Arsenal in the days when clubs had full control of the players. He actually went off working outside football and Newcastle finally relented after a court case.

You are right. Just checked. Perhaps George Eastham was Jimmy replacement. 65 Jimmy went to Oldham. 66 George joined Stoke.

I always recall the two penalties:

Gordon Banks saving an absolute rocket of a spotkick hit by Geoff Hurst and then Bobby Moore saving the Bernard's penalty only to see him scoring from the rebound.

Played his first professional game for Ards, in the Northern Ireland League in 1953, as a 17 year old, where his Dad was player-manager ... and was still playing top-flight English Football for Stoke, when he scored the winner in the 1972 League Cup Final. That's a very long career for those times, when the pitches, medical treatment and Referee's interpretations of what constitutes a foul were very different ....
