STs on general sale

Post by Quickenthetempo » Fri Feb 14, 2025 2:02 pm

The club have tweeted back on sale.

The waiting list must have been small or plenty not renewed?
NewClaret can spend the next month trying to work out how many have been sold.

Looks like lots of single seats available with the odd 2/3/4 seats together in the majority of the ground. Largest section of availability is the block in the Longside Lower closest to the CF.

Isn't that the area where they've had the problem of people standing up, therefore blocking off rows in front of the boxes?

Did manage to have a look earlier, thought it was blocking me because I’ve renewed but can access now it’s on general sale. Few observations:

- a lot more left than I was expecting, although if memory serves they were taken off sale with about 200 left last time so maybe not as many to buy as it appears.

- Bob Lord has way less available than last year, just a few singles left. They may not sing, but they renew ;) the availability is in the other stands.

- Loads more 2/3/4 seats together than last year but more spread across the stadium. Last year they were restricted to individual blocks like NU1 but they seem more spread out now, with less available in the wings.

Looks like a disappointing uptake at first glance unless they are selling more this year given they’re not restricted by the premier league rules.

It should be very limited availability in there. It's a very small stand 3.5/4k with the centre blocks not available.
Prime seating for most of them

True, just last year there were many more available. Very few this year but more across the other stands I would say.

One issue with season tickets now are the lack of 3pm Saturday kick offs. For fans that travel distances it becomes a bind, as apart from all the night games, you can't plan anything from the initial fixture list.

My two relations/travel companions are not renewing precisely because of the lack of Saturday afternoon football.

People may be waiting to see what league we're in. Daft thing is we'd probably get more Saturday 3pm games in the Prem. Has been a joke this season, 4 home games so far on a Saturday afternoon?

Do the club send the renewal info to homes, I did not get anything but they know I am on the net.
I ask this because I was talking to an 83 year old who has gone on the turf for over 70 year, says he has had a season ticket for about 60year, this was on the last day of renewal
He hadn't a clue and still thought he had until March to
Renew, not very pleased when I told him he had missed the
Date and has not renewed.
I have been told it was not even put in the burnley express as it usually is.
As he said it used to be June and now it's January .

He should contact the club and explain his situation. Worst that can happen is they say no but he might get lucky and catch someone with a bit of empathy.

Not sure putting it in the burnley express any more is going to help - the online website is about as bad as it gets. You would never get past the adverts.

Bringing the early deadline forward to January was just another sign of what the new owners are about. Every single season they are chipping away and eroding the loyalty of the ordinary fans. If it’s not this it’s chipping away at all the concessions, changing age categories etc.

They openly admit within the ticket office that their priority now is increasing hospitality revenue at the expense of other fans. But they cannot even get that right - hospitality numbers are at their lowest numbers for years. The massive increase in prices in hospitality have driven away people who have been loyal to them for decades. Even the cheapest hospitality area - the Jimmy Mac lounge - is less than half full for 90% of the games.

I always thought this when Hoos was involved, it’s seems an American thing to think that you can replace the bread and butter fans with the prawn sandwich brigade just with good marketing

You can in London, you could price out 2 or 3 thousand Crystal Palace fans and replace them with a thousand or so paying 10 times more if you got the branding right, you could do in Leeds with a million people within range and many affluent surrounding areas and besides Bradford no surrounding football teams of note.

You can’t do it in Burnley

200k catchment

The other small towns and cities in Lancashire have their own football clubs
Blackburn Preston Bolton close by

Moorland to the East and Leeds and Bradford

Man United Man City, one of the biggest one of the richest 25 miles away their catchment stretching to Rossendales 10 miles away

It wouldn’t surprise me if the great plan included a vision, on the M65 Corridor, for a new bowl of a stadium with a shopping centre and cinema complex half way to hell

East Lancs Utd

The only saving grace I suppose and I get this may only be prelonging the inevitable is that the club continue to employ pretty clueless people in positions of responsibility.

Not sure if this is because they are trying to do this on the cheap or whether it’s the blind leading the blind or in the case of some positions it’s jobs for the boys. Probably an element of all of them but luckily for us whatever they are doing isn’t working. It’s just alienating more and more of the local people and businesses that they need. All this change we have seen at the club since they took over has actually had virtually no impact on generating new lines of commercial revenue. And the only reason match day income has increased is because they have increased season ticket and hospitality prices. Hardly a strategy that needed the club to get rid of pretty much every member of staff and bring in a load of new people with ridiculous titles and zero experience of the industry or the town.

I agreed with this until you mentioned building a bowl stadium. We don’t seem to have enough money to sort out our aging CFS or BL nevermind enough to build a whole new stadium. Nor do I think for a moment our owners are that stupid.

I am hoping they’ve had a big, big awakening with hospitality pricing this season. It’s clear to everyone that there’s been a huge reduction from all the empty seats. They need to get back to the premier league if they want to sell them.

Perhaps they could nudge Parker to get our attacking players off the bench a bit sooner!

Won’t be far off, 2200 for away fans (?) and then a certain % of capacity is required to be available for sale to walk on fans so I think 16k would ballpark be correct - someone may be able to clarify this exactly.

I think Leisure has said the 10% rule only applies in the Premier League, not the EFL. In which case I guess it’s down to the club how many they want to sell.

No one will pay those walk on prices

Certainly not in the Chamoionship

If it’s the Premier League they’ll be away fans that buy them and we know what happens then

So limiting the sale of the maximum amount of season tickets that could be sold is counter productive

Who sets that rule the just the Premier league or the EFL as well

Do away fans somehow get in there? The club cannot allow standing blocking Hospitality seats. That would be negligence.

Do you know that for a fact? It wasn't much different last season
With the new TV deal i don't think most people realised just how many games would get moved. Is it just 4 Saturdays at 3pm so far?

Yes, i do
Quite a few usuals that sit local to me in the JHU havent renewed. We havent renewed
And most weeks, there are plenty of spare seats in every game - mainly the same spots too

If we go up it'l be a case of purchasing tickets ad-hoc -

Working perfectly from a SKY perspective…. All power to removing the 3pm black out and it’ll be sold as thinking about your match day fans who prefer games at the traditional time.

Had another look tonight and either they’ve sold a fair few or maybe there were less on sale than I originally thought.

Bob Lord and Jimmy Mac arguably less than were available last year but Longside looks a lot more. Especially in the blocks where they’ve had the standing issues. Not sure if they’ve moved those guys to the CFS.

It will. We've had to miss 1 or 2 this year due to being on holiday but just give them to family members

Certainly couldn't be affording £150 a game for our family of 4

Thank you Micheal, great to have another counter on the team :D

So, for those interested, a comparison to last year:

Longside - 396 vs 202 = 194 fewer sold
Jimmy Mc - 213 vs 81 = 132 fewer sold
Bob Lord - 67 vs 83 = 16 more sold

Totals - 676 vs 366 = 310 fewer sold

So per my initial thoughts, Bob Lord crew have done a great job, overall more on sale, but worth noting that those figures last year were from 8th May!

So in effect to equal last year we’d need to shift 310 in 3 months which I think the club will fancy.

Worth noting that they were taken off sale last year on June 26th with 168 remaining so maybe only 400 or so to sell before they call it, so will be interesting to see whether we get to that point before June.

Overall, I think the club will be absolutely delighted with that result.

If it's likely we will be in the prem I'd keep them and sell the ones you can't make on the exchange. They normally sell on there for prem games

If we are in the Premier League then it’s unlikely we’ll have many midweek games as they’re generally reserved for the teams playing in Europe. Plus a lot more Saturday 3pms.

But you have VAR and toenail offside rubbish to contend with :(

Only 20 in CFS which is hard to believe with the amount of empty seats in there each week

Surely they've gone to the "waiting list"

Not necessarily - you can get a ticket for any game these days on the day for peanuts
