So many brilliant songs to choose from it's hard to pick just one but a walk on the wild side by Lou Reed was absolutely fantastic.

Whiter Shade Of Pale.
I could probably pick another dozen or so, even if I split an answer into different categories.

If it's 1967 and by The Young Rascals we are in total agreement.

60s - House of the Rising Son, Animals. Saw The Animals live doing this at Great Yarmouth whilst on Burnley holiday week- loved Eric doing this.
70s - Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen. Seemed so different from anything else and great to sing along to (still is).

Something Better Change /Straighten Out by The Stranglers because it was the first serious record I bought which went onto send me on an obsessive musical journey which still lasts to this day 48 years later

Not my favourite record by a long way but the first one I ever bought was “By the banks of the Ohio” by the gorgeous Olivia Newton John.

If pushed for just one it would have to be "Go Now" by the Moody Blues but it's really an impossible question.

Strange no one has mentioned the Beach Boys. "Surfin USA" was a classic. Looking back though there were some fantastic songs.
