Hope so, because god knows who's going to score goals for them next season if he leaves.

He’s nowhere near as good as most people make out. Roy Keane has him worked out.

If, as Radcliffe has stated, everybody has a price. Lord knows where they could finish next season. Hopefully 18th to keep us up.

Fernando's is an arrogant get but he is by far their best player. Hope he leaves them.

Cheeky bid?
Re: Bruno Fernandes
A ridiculous sum, but in context not unheard of.
A lot of money, but less than the P60 annnual earnings I saw about 20 years ago for a Credit Suisse banker, which is the highest PAYE earnings I’ve ever seen.
Also quite a bit less than Robert Downey Jr will reportedly make for the next Avengers film.

You saw a P60 for someone earning £64m 20 years ago?Bow wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 10:28 pmA ridiculous sum, but in context not unheard of.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
Would love to see him go a top club rather than retire to Saudi. Without him, united are related this season.

£68m all PAYE, when I was a tax inspector

Re: Bruno Fernandes
Yes, difficult to like him but a very good player and easily the best in their team. There are plenty they need to get rid of (if anyone will take them on their bloated wages) but loosing him would be a real blow to them for next season.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 8:57 pmFernando's is an arrogant get but he is by far their best player. Re: Bruno Fernandes
This club needs major surgery and selling Fernandes falls under my definition of this. If I was Utd I'd not think twice if the Saudis came for him and he wanted to go. Or any team for that matter willing to pay the fee and his wages .
Personally I've always failed to see the leadership he is tasked with bringing to the many players that have played for Utd over the years he has been captain.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
You don’t really have to look to Saudi Arabia to see ridiculous and grotesque amounts of money being paid. According to tonight’s BBC Gossip page Liverpool are proposing to pay Wirtz £320k a week to attract him to sign for them from Germany.
No real wonder that the 3 promoted Championship clubs are cut adrift at the foot of the table all showing ridiculous goal difference stats in the minus 40’s.

Yoonited surely can't turn down an offer like that given the state of their finances.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
But Fernandes could refuse to go if he is still under contract.
Re: Bruno Fernandes
Overrated. While his figures carry united somewhat he's exactly the sort of player I'd be steering away from the captain's arm band. He doesn't strike me as a good character in the dressing room.

Wouldn’t follow him in a conga.
Re: Bruno Fernandes
Completely agree with this. His ‘captaincy’ during the Man City game (amongst others) a few seasons back, when they got thumped, was a disgrace. I said to my Man United supporting friend at the time, that I’d be stripping him of the captains role, on that display alone.Elizabeth wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 11:43 pmThis club needs major surgery and selling Fernandes falls under my definition of this. I don’t really see many leaders in their team, when in the past, as with many great teams, you could take your pick from half a dozen or more who would make a great captain and still show leadership.
Great player though he is, he’s a petulant, whinging sod.

Fernandes might be all the above but he is by far and away the only player that looks Man Utd class at the club.
The rest just look awful.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
Garnacho and Rashford are decent too but thier third rate manager is shifting them too.
Re: Bruno Fernandes
Due to my beloved being Portuguese, I've seen a lot of Fernandes playing for his country. And when the team is struggling he rarely shines.
Seems to consider himself to be of the same ilk as Ronaldo but, whatever one might think of the latter, he really needs to get a grip.
Stands out in the worst Manchester United team for years. A backhanded compliment.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
United are screwed. Even if they squeeze another £20m out of the deal, they are no longer in the market for top top players and can't replace him. They will have have to massively overpay to convince players to risk their career at that graveyard and they don’t appear to have the money for that. Shame that.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
I think similar. I've said for ages now they need a complete root and branch overhaul of their playing squad and be prepared to take a level of player under what they are used to but who will work, to build back a culture like Newcastle are doing.Stanbill05 wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 5:14 amUnited are screwed. I'd keep Martinez, Maguire, Dorgu, Yoro, Mainoo, Diallo and Mount. The rest want selling for anything they can get.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
As others have said, very good player but captain!!
I know he has his detractors (personally love him) but I wouldn't swap 100 Fernandes Captains for one Roy Keane. They are like different species

Re: Bruno Fernandes
They couldn't have messed recruitment up harder in the past decade. If you read their ins and outs since 2013, it's impressive just how bad they've managed to spend so much money.
£177 million in total for Fred (£47m), Wan Bissaka (£50m) and Maguire (£80m) alone. A 10 year old could do better than that using YouTube as a scout tool.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
He sets the standard. Unfortunately the standard is petulance, moaning, going to ground easily, and throwing your arms in the air.
There's no doubting his quality. We only need to look back on their last visit to the Turf. Bruno made the difference with a brilliant goal, a moment of real quality. The problem is the flip side. He's certainly not captain material in my eyes, but the fact United have nobody else says it all.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
This.
Coupled with the petulance Garnacho has shown, Rashford too whilst he was there Man U need a clear out of the rotten apples they've put together. I can't see Amorim getting a collection of players wanting to play for the shirt together, given their current finances though.

Re: Bruno Fernandes
I think the continuing troubles at OT are hugely entertaining and whichever way the Bruno thing plays out, let's hope Amorim is allowed to push hundreds more millions of Radcliffe's dosh straight down the khazi before he inevitably gets the bullet.
Couldn't happen to a better club.
