I think Indecent Proposal was the first film I watched him in.

Hadn't seen the news.

One of Hollywood's most glamarous leading men.

I watched "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" again a few months ago. It has stood the test of time well. They talk about chemistry between actors and Redford and Newman certainly worked well together.

Two of his lesser-known films were released in 1972: "The Candidate", about an unlikely candidate for the Presidential elections. The second was "Jeremiah Johnson" which told the story of a loner living in the mountains.

He created the Sundance Film Festival, a now annual independent cinema event which provides a much-needed platform for independent films in a country dominated by Hollywood.

RIP

Brilliant actor and a handsome, charismatic beggar to boot.

Can add Sneakers and The Natural to the list of great movies he was in.

Three Days of the Condor is a bit of a missed classic. The 70’s had some great paranoid thrillers (come to mention it, All The Presidents Men is another of his) and that is right up there.

One of the greats of cinema.

Lucky enough to have met him in a tabac shop in Monaco in 1986.

He was kind enough to let me take a picture of him in his tatty shorts and white T shirt.

The photo was then placed on the sideboard in my mums house, my brothers and my pictures were then taken down and placed in the drawers.

Rest in peace Sundance.
