Daz Bentley comments in podcast

Post by CaptJohn » Wed Sep 24, 2025 4:00 pm

I watched the after match podcast with Daz Bentley as part of the panel. I thought he made a very good comment regarding the slogans around "Barnfield." He suggested a new slogan to be displayed which should read, "Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard!" It sums up last night perfectly IMHO. Cardiff worked hard and deservedly won but man for man we had far more talent on the pitch.

It felt like nobody wanted to risk injury. Like it was a training game leading up to a competitive one.

Maybe. I thought it was more like Parket insisting on them practising a system for use in most PL games. With that trumping winning.

Whoever’s fault it was it reminded me that I had promised myself previously never to bother with a cup game again.
For some reason, I forgot, but I won’t forget again!

Yep, that’s me done with the cups now and I’ve not missed a home game for years.

We predicted lots of changes, full 11 BUT that “effort” was totally unacceptable.

The club has got to remember we paid to watch that last night !

Nearly, quite nearly as bad as the Knobbers last season - the list of disinterest by the club in cup games is a disgrace - that’s me done !

Pretty certain I have seen this quote on the walls in the gym at Barnfield.

Fair play to him for knowing something about the club.

Is he still wondering why Amdouni isn’t playing?

But we aren't fannying around at the back in the Prem games, so why we did it so poorly again last night is hard to understand.

I've often wondered if the club should let one of the assistant coaches run the cup team. Have them set up the team and play the tactics they want to. You would think they would have a keen interest in showing they have the ability to be a head coach. It's probably never going to happen.... but just feels like these games aren't taken seriously.
