They've had all week to sack him. Why sack him now with a game on Monday. Weird timing.

Possibly because they didn't want to risk him winning that game.

Won 26% of his Premier League games at Brighton.

He’s always been a bit of a myth. Talks a good game and a lot of prominent journalists got engaged in his backstory and overpraised him.

He’s just not very good at winning football matches.

He'll need to coax goals out of Füllkrug and Wilson and sort a defence that has shipped 13 in 5 games.

Which many people at the time thought was equally weird. We'd played Norwich the Sunday before and as you say, they waited until the Friday to push him out.

Having a decent defence and a counter attacking style is what Nuno does best.

He had done well in some minor Scandinavian league and they took a chance and gave him time.

Never have I watched a worse brand of football than Brighton on his watch.

Found out quickly from then on. Not sure he has either the personality or the brain power to sort a big team.

Never a fan, as you can tell.

He is all the richer, for his failures. Who needs success, when you can be rewarded, more often, for failure?

Or to further ridicule the fans if Everton beat them it wouldn't look good in that eventuality bearing in mind some of the fans collectively led to moyes leaving in the first place & you'd have to say regressed since.

I feel the entitled WHU fans deserve all they get, in view of their irrational dislike of Moyes and his achievements.
All that nonsense about “ playing the West Ham way”
As other have said, hope Nunos appointment doesn’t give them fresh impetus.

Wouldn't say that such but it's been building up & nuno becoming available probably accelerated things. We'll never know but had nuno still been at forest would that have bought potter time.

Became a journo favourite because he’s somewhat erudite and his success in Sweden was a bit of a novelty for an English manager. But when you actually look at his record, there’s nothing really there - ok at Swansea, very mixed at Brighton (had a good season with them but also nearly took them down) and failed at Chelsea. He seems like a decent enough sort but he’s been given jobs way beyond his pay grade.

Agree I think he’ll end up at wolves next maybe his last PL job i think that’ll be the next vacancy up for grabs.

Potter guided Brighton to their highest ever PL league finish, 9th, and had them 4th after 6 games the following season, including demolishing a few teams. They were playing some attractive football which top clubs look for, as we know with VK going to Bayern and doing well so far. I think a lot can be said about certain managerial styles suiting certain environments. He went into a car crash at Chelsea, in hindsight he probably shouldn’t have left Brighton, where he had built a squad in his image over time. West Ham, yes he has not been great, but that clubs hierarchy and decision making is woeful. Their squad is so disjointed and just shows that jumping from 1 manager style to a polar opposite has major risks. Another poor move for him, just like Parker going to Club Brugge was for him. I think he’d thrive again at a stable club like ours, for example.

The managerial merry-go-round really is something else. Ordinary Joe Bloggs who have a few years experience with Football Manager should apply for jobs because if all clubs do is hire other managers who have failed, there can't be enough to choose from.

The move to Chelsea made no sense, I live in Brighton and my mate (diehard fan) had said how it had taken 2 seasons for him to get his system etc in place. He was a manager who needed a club with patience and Brighton was a perfect fit.

He was the opposite to what Chelsea needed and how they operated as a club. When managers talk about being sacked too quickly and not being given the chance he is the definitive counterpoint. Had earned a lot of goodwill at the club which had a lot going for it (new training centre etc). His record is now busted and I'm unsure where he will end up next.

He was one of those who looked good on paper at Brighton, his teams had a good xG record but that was used to suggest that the team were going to come good under him rather than question why he was underperforming the stats. The improvement after he left suggested it may well have been the latter.

He finished 9th with them and had them in 4th when he left? How is that ‘on paper’? I’d suggest their success after he left was thanks to his work over time to get the club to that level, which also helped attract a top coach like De Zerbi.

Don't blame him going to Chelsea whatsoever - money would've been astronomical and you never know if/when that opportunity comes up again. As for his time at West Ham, I honestly find it hard to believe that'll be too arsed about his dismissal. Similar to Dyche. The pay-off will be massive, he'll always get another managerial job if and when he wants it - and there's always media work. So - smallest violin the world. It's a great life.

Each case will be different & I agree regarding the pay offs that said I doubt it will be some sort of a ball for the dismissed managers constantly having to uproot their children especially if they are settled in school & having to sit exams & suchlike & having to explain to their partners that they need to move again & perhaps leave the friends behind that they had befriended. It's things some people don't think about.

Brighton had been chucking cash at it for a while at that point, a midtable finish wasn't really exceeding their budget. He left after a handful of games, Sunderland are fifth at the moment but I don't think anyone will expect that to be their position at the end of the season.

The success after he left may have been partly down to him, some managers do OK without being able to push on to that next level and a new manager takes that extra step (look at Cotterill for instance).

They're multi-multi-millionaires though, moving their family around (if they do) is as easy as it can feasibly be. Same for players. They're living a level of luxury 0.0001 of people can comprehend. Or maybe I'm just skint!

I know that I know that private tutoring is an option for the kids if need be. Money can solve a lot of things but not everything when it comes down to things like emotional attachment. Children don't see things the way we do as they aren't cognitively developed hardwired the same when young Emily has to leave her best friend Sarah it's a temporary setback she doesn't understand her father is loaded & she'll meet new friends at her new school.

Is there any evidence that the children of footballers/mangers suffer anymore than any other children?

Is there any evidence that the children of footballers/mangers suffer anymore than any other children?
It's not something that would be apparent if that was the case & even if they are at no disadvantage compared to the other kids it still doesn't sit comfortable not with me anyway. I think children need stability conducive for good functioning development.
