1516 burnley khius metz 00 630x420Khius Metz is the only one of the second year scholars to be offered a new deal by the club as the scholarships come to an end this summer.

Khius has come through his two year scholarship, coupled with winning international recognition with the Republic of Ireland at under-19 level, but none  of his fellow second years have been rewarded other than Aiden O’Neill who recently signed a deal. O’Neil, however, due to international clearance delays, was never a member of the youth squad.

Sadly that means farewell to four defenders in Vashiko Dixon, Shaun Hobson, who has captained the youth team this year, Lewis Norvock and Andy Nugent, also midfielders Jamal Crawford and Hamam El-Fitouri and striker Josh Dolling.

There has been no news on goalkeeper Tony Aghayere, the remaining second year scholar, who is currently out on loan at Colne.

Up the Clarets would like to send congratulations to Khius whilst wishing the other players, who have served us well over the last two years, the very best for the future.
