Burnley have made another academy signing today with the capture of Hastings United midfielder Benn Ward who we believe came on as a substitute for the under-23s two days ago.

Aged 17, he was spotted by Nicky Law and after a successful trial returned to sign a scholarship with the club and will now move into Tony Philliskirk’s under-18 team.

The central midfielder said: “I am buzzing to be back up here, the players, staff, coaches , everyone has been great with me. The facilities here are great, the stadium and the training ground, it’s amazing and I can’t wait to get going now. I just want to hopefully progress here and do well for the club and see where that takes me.”

He’s been playing first team football at Hastings and everyone involved at that club is delighted for him getting this opportunity.

Chris Agutter, the Hastings manager, said: “I am so happy for Benn, he is such a hungry and hardworking young man who from day one has put his personality and will on the team. Benn is a very likeable man who we all will be willing on to do his absolute best at Burnley.

The CEO at Hastings, Billy Wood, was also very positive and ended by saying: “Benn, go wear the claret and blue with pride and make this town proud. Be an example to your generation and the next at the Hastings United academy.

Hastings United Football Club also said they would like to put on record their thanks to Burnley Football Club and they wished us all the best for the rest of the season.

Up the Clarets would like to wish Benn the very best at Burnley.
