Players will be returning to their respective clubs after the international programme and for the four Burnley players involved last night only Conor Mitchell played with two others unused substitutes and another unavailable.

Scott Arfield was the player reported to be unavailable and that was no bad thing as Canada, captained by former Claret David Edgar, crashed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Morocco in Marrakesh.

Michael Keane, with England, and Jamie Thomas, with the Welsh Under-21s were both named as substitutes. Keane was an unused sub as England played out a 0-0 draw against Slovenia in Ljubjliana while Thomas was also left on the bench as Wales won 3-1 in Armenia in a European Under-21 qualifier.

Mitchell, pictured in last night’s game, was in goal as he won his fourth Under-21 cap for Northern Ireland, but it proved to be a tough encounter against France and they were beaten 3-0 at Windsor Park. Conor, again in the team alongside Cameron Dummigan and Luke Conlan, was beaten twice by Paris Saint Germaine’s Jean-Kévin Augustin with the third goal scored by Celtic’s former Fulham striker Moussa Dembélé close to the end.

All of our international players will either be back with us or on their way back. We now have four Premier League games, against Southampton, Everton, Manchester United and Crystal Palace, before the third international break centered around the second weekend in November.
